Hey, has anybody picked up the new MXR delay? Is it worth it? Does it sound good? Does the modulation sound reminisent of a Memory Man? Just curious, it looks like a decent price, but I've never been a huge MXR fan.

The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

I picked one up the other day and I love it. I don't have anything to compare it to but it has a real warm vintage sound. I used it at the studio last night and it really has a nice Pink Floyd tone to it. It really sounds as good to me as some of the more expensive models that I've heard before. I also used it today at home for the slapback sound and it sounded great with my tele. Real nice country sound. I feel it is definately worth it for the money. I think the reason I never bought a delay is the price of them as I don't really use it much. Like you I am not a huge MXR fan but they have a winner here.

I´m geting one within two days. The carbon copy with the modulation is something I´ve been waiting for.

I have an Amtech AGE-1 Gutiar echo that has a tape flutter control. It sounds wonderful but it´s a rackmounted piece. www.guitarecho.com

The carbon copy seems to be a good replacement.

IMO modulation to the delayed signal is a must.

My first MXR in 25 years!

I'm really enjoying my Carbon Copy.
I have mine set like a 'bathtub reverb,' just adding a little ambience.
I haven't tweaked the modulation controls yet so I don't really know their range or if the Carbon Copy comes close to the Memory Man but stock, straight from MXR, she's real sweet.
I can't imagine not having the modulation on at all times.
For the price, the Carbon Copy is a no brainer if you're looking for an analog delay.

I tried Stax´s Carbon Copy and I like it. I will definitely get one of those. My first thought was, why don´t I skip my DL-4 and have two CC instead? Maybe I will.

I ponied up and got the Carbon Copy. Right out of the box my initial impression was "ugh". After playing with it for a couple of days I warmed up to it, and I've really come to enjoy it. It's not nearly as good as my Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay (digital but AAAAWWWWSSSSOOOOOMMMMEEEEEEEE!) but I like it's differences, and I think with the two combined on my pedal board they give me a host of great tonal options. I DON'T trust the switch on the MXR, though, it seems really flimsy and the little voice in my head keeps saying "why do you think it's only $150?" Still, it's definitely a keeper and I'll be throwing it into a pedal power switcher system, so that will cease to be a major concern. At any rate, thanks to everyone who helped me decide.
