Just got My Zoom PD-01 today and gave it the test. Thanks to Randy Combs for the heads up! It doesn't give me a different sound, but improves what I've got. Using it as a boost w/ the treble control down a bit it sounds nasty a la ZZ Top's "Jesus Just Left Chicago" lead solo. Roll the guitar volume back and it gets really fat and papery like an old tweed deluxe.Turning the drive up sounds like my amp's own distortion. Really smooth!

Thanks, Randy!!

Glad to hear you picked up on the best deal for overdrive that one could get.I love mine.Last night I didn't bring my pedalboard and without my ZOOM PD-01 I just couldn't get my solos to wail.People may laugh at this pedal because it is a ZOOM pedal, but is really a great pedal."Jesus just left Chicago" is a tune we do also and the ZOOM PD-01 is just the thing.

KEEP ROCKIN'

Yeah, I just can't get over Zoom of all companies making a "boutique" pedal. I've been trying to get My amp to get that tweed tone and this pedal is a short cut. I see many happy hours of jammin' ahead. Thanks again!!!!

I got one on ebay for 36 bucks shipped! It's a great overdrive and clean boost. I even use it as a bare-bones eq sometimes. People should definitely check these out(or should they?....) as an alternative to a tubescreamer. The PD-01 is allegedly a clone of a KLON. I don't know whether that is true or not but I like it. I've opened it up and it is constructed with a circuit board that looks like what you'd find in a cell phone! So, don't believe the hype about audiophile components and handwiring all of the time. It does eat up batteries though. That is the only shortcoming, so get a power supply.

I have one. Overall I like it but it's really noisy (hiss).
