....I really don't know why this pedal hasn't caught on, but here is the best TS clone in a 2 channel format I've found...(drum roll, please)....Morgan Miller Tube Dancer!

I compared, contrasted, tweaked, etc. with this and a TS808, Sparkle Drive, Blues Devil, Red Snapper, Menatone Red, and FD2. The Red Snapper isn't really the same sound as these others, but included it in comparisons anyway.

The Tube Dancer won easily over most. The only thing that came close, yet so far, was the Blues Devil. (and, like I said, the Red Snapper was only for comparison and not really in the "shootout") I was able to dial up near identical sounds with these 2, but the Dancer won because it was fatter and responded better. How the Dancer sounds more open yet responds and tracks better is beyond me, but it does. Talk about a meaty tone! It sounds like a open TS w/ retained bass & cut w/o being harsh at all.

The unit was slightly above unity with the volume all the way down. (weird, but fine with me!) The tone control is so useful, too. This is what makes both the Blues Devil and the Dancer so awesome, for one. Even with the tone control at noon it's not harsh...try that with the 808! (I did)

The clean boost adds a walloping amount of sub-lows and is not overbearing with it. Don't think of the normal lows you get from most amps...this is different. You have to hear and feel it to understand. It's extremely tight and punchy, but so spongy and elastic. (I know you guys would love it if you heard it) It reminds me of a truly awesome tone that I got with a PRS running into a Matchless Lightning that I will never forget...only it is an even bigger tone running through my 2x12s. There is also lots of that very sweet clean boost available. I can see how a guitarist would possibly want to leave this boost on all the time. Sounds incredible, and you can even turn down the bass on your amp and get an awesome bass response you're probably not used to hearing from most amps.

The switch on the back has 2 modes and apparently sets the point at which the bass clips. The more I mess around with pedals and amps the more I find this is critical whether it's the case with the Dancer or not. As I've posted before, the TBIAC is a prime example of bass overdriving and at what point. Makes a huge difference in tone, sag, and response.

The tone control at half with my rig gives it a frightening open Klon/Menatone Red-like sound. Wow!

It's extremely versatile and outshines most TS clones/2 channel ODs in most ways. At $199 for all this I'm not sure why it didn't catch on. I'm thinking probably marketing, bad timing, whatever. You TS/Blues Devil/FD2/Klon guys should definitely check one out...you owe it to yourself and your band to hear these tones.

The 808 and Red are nearly identical, but the Red has more boost and more open sounding. The Dancer copped their tones. The Red Snapper is in a class of its own, but the drive characteristics were very close. (smooth, but with just enough bite; plus you have the great useable tone control on both to use singles or buckers) The Dancer copped the Blues Devil's tones with more fatness and then many more. The FD2 doesn't even compare...I'll always love it for what it does well, but it's more compressed and doesn't have the cut and the bass.(comp cut or not) The Sparkle Drive is also way more compressed and doesn't even sit in the same ballpark as the Dancer. It is awesome for what it does, but I actually even like the Dancer better for most of the things the SD does.

By the way, I'm just testing this one out. It's Donner's. He has more than 1 and I may buy this one. I'm still going to place an order with Toyz for a new one, though.

I would aree with everything Tele said and add only that the unique thing about the pedal is that the clean boost and the overdrive are wired parrellel to each other and this gives it part of its sound------ ie. both sides of the pedal operate independantly of each other and when BOTH are engaged the signal is split- part goes thru the overdrive and part thru the clean boost and the two parts are only joined at the output jack- so you get clean bite and clear bottom in addition to the overdrive- similar to the way the Sparkle drive works but at a higher fidelity,,, its has a 3D sparkledrive feel to it with alot more avilible gain and clarity/cut and detailed bottom/footroom......this is not a sound for those that like the mushy compressed liquid tones of some pedals----its a very articulate and dynamic tone and the closest to a real SRV vibe Ive heard if you dig that sort of thing....and the two sides aprt are a great fullrange clean boost with lots of availible gain and an open inviting overdrive in the tube screamer/expandora mode.......
