Phatman
This pedal had some cool mojo to it, but it definitely needs the right amp. With the Fender amps I tried it with it was pretty hard sounding. A little hard and angry sounding...reminded me of a Big Muff in some ways. With certain amps it sounded pretty cool, though, and took away a lot of that. I just think this pedal could've been made without tubes with equal results. Try before you buy. |

I dissagree. Tubes are the heart of the Phatman's tone. You may have had bad luck or something with yours but I've been using one for 4 years now and it nails the plexi bang on.
Budda have managed to take the ECC series of preamp tubes and turn them into power amp soundalikes. I use mine in conjuntion with my Soldano, it has a 6L6 power amp so it may be the key to tonal heaven. Buddah Wah:
somewhat polished version of a Dunlop Wah, smaller sweep, and not as vocal as a Teese RMC1 for similar money. |

the bud wah plus has a 15db boost.
Here is something curious...the Bud Wah sells way better in the UK than in N America. That should indicate the voicing of the wah...it's firmly planted in the Vox school of tone. check out my site Guitar From The Green goo for my gear and music. |
