You could take a look at Menatone pedals. They might have the right pedal for you. Check out the Dirty Blonde (Fender Tweed sound) of the King of Britains (cranked Plexi). Both non TS overdrives. I've got a Red Snapper and I truly love it. It has some of the TS caracteristics but without the mid hump and compression (so basically it's a non SRV sounding Tubescreamer, very hard to explain, you gotta hear it ). The thing that the pedal does, is that makes your amp sound like it's cranked up. It's 100% transparant if you set all the controls at 9 o clock and then you can add as much volume, gain and bite as you like (and believe me, it has loads of 'em). So on a Super Reverb it's sounds like a cranked Super Reverb and on a Plexi it sounds like a cranked Plexi. Sash

Guy, A friend just let me borrow his Fulltone Distortion Pro and it is about as far removed from a TS/SRV tone as you can get! I got some killer rhythm tones ala Pete/David Grissom with ease. It's got so much range, I feel like it might be a really good match with your new Fender amp. Try one out if you can...

seriously? ive got a stock ds-1, and its complete crap. i guess the analogman mod is worth the 50 bucks or so. Ibanez Artcore AM73T -> Johnson Pedal tuner -> TS-9 Tubescreamer (true bypass, 808, brown mods)-> "Death Drive" distortion-> Fulltone 70 -> Boss CH-1-> Akai Intelliphase-> Visual Sound H2O-> Vox V847 Wah-> Fender Hot Rod Deluxe

After I tried some units like Marshall Drivemaster, Perscription R/X Overdrive, Vox Valve Tone, Fulltone Fulldrive etc, I've found that a Ibanez Tube King fitted with a 12AU7 tube and set low worked well enough for getting that kind of sound (specially out of Deluxe Reverb and Twin)

There are only a few good ODs not based on the tube screamer circuit. Analog Man has a King Of Tone, that's pretty cool. There are also some clean boosts that overdrive your tube amp. I have a zvex SHO, it's cool. I also have a Beano Boost from Analog Man, also cool.
I also have a BK Butler Tube Driver. Very cool.
