On the pedal it is labeled a "BBD Analog Chorus" - I can't pretend to know what BBD means.

I can't compare this to the Analogman Clone Clone or the Fulltone Chorus/Flange but I can compare it to the recent memory of my TC Electronic Chorus/Flanger/PM.

Physically the box is a little smaller than I imagined - its about the size of an MXR box with a pseudo-Boss pedal switch on top. It is chunky, kind of heavy for its size and the box is mostly metal (save the plastic knobs and footswitch). The knobs spin very tightly, which I like - settings will stay in place and you don't worry about knocking things off with a scrape of your shoe.
The footswitch is very quick and sensitive - no need to act like your killing a ****roach when you step on it. All it takes is a light tap - right now I like that at home; we'll see if its an issue playing live. The box and workmanship inspire confidence, which I have to admit, the asthetics of this pedal put me off for a long time. Only complaint is the knob markers will be hard to see in a live situation. I would prefer the "pointers" be a lighter color like white instead of the metallic gray.

The true bypass is excellent and I am glad to add one more TB pedal to my lineup. When switched on the chorus sounds blend beautifully with your original guitar signal. To me this translates to more useable lead playing sounds with the chorus on - and it doesn't sound too 80's-ish. The TC Chorus was best used for rhythm playing, I could never find any lead playing mojo in that pedal, as good as the chorus sounds were. I think the Meistersinger is much more transparent overall though. Even when dialing in heavy duty chorus stuff.

As far as versatility of chorus sounds - so far the pedal is kind of conservative that way. The chorus is asthetically pleasing, warm, dynamic and you can go from Police to EVH to Leslie (fast only) stuff. But that's about it. Which might be fine for me and actually my tastes for chorus stay right around that range.

I have noodled with one setting where the rate is set very low and the depth very high and with some overdrive/distortion you get a subtle flange effect.

What I like best about the Meistersinger so far is its crystal clear - almost hi fi - application of the effect. I dont mean hi fi in the antiseptic way but warm and big. The chorus effect doesn't take over and strangle your original tone which I guess allows for the more expressive lead playing opportunities.

There is not a bad chorus sound in here. You will encounter some of that dissonant warble if the rate and depth are both set around 2 oclock, but even that would be usable for some whacked out stuff.

Like I said, I can't compare to many other pedals out there, but this is the best chorus pedal I've owned including Boss, Digitech (yech!) and the TC. It's not stereo, but I don't use a stereo setup and I do hardly any recording. THe pedal is dead quiet too - always a plus.

On the top side of the pedal there is a connection hole for the DC plug but also a "send" jack - I am assuming if you are running off of power this allows a jump to another pedal. Cool.

pretty sure "BBD" refers to the "bucket brigade" chip used in the pedal...
