I bought these pedals, twice, hoping they would end my search for a distortion pedal. Unfortunately, I sold them twice. I found both pedals harsh and unmusical, either into a clean or dirty amp, whether I was using a Strat or Les Paul. I have these distortion pedals:

ZIM w/ H9 card

Keeley Baked TS-9 mod
Barber Burn Unit EQ
Lovepedal Toxic
Sub Decay Stupid Box
BJFE Dyna Red
Keeley Modded BD-2 Fuzz Freak.

All of these pedals are usable, versatile and musical. Try as hard as I could, I could not get the Bennett stuff to work...either w/ clean or dirty amps, Strats or Les Pauls. I found them harsh, too bright and unusable. I hope they work for other people--but not for me.

The Bennet Brown Sound don't work for me. No matter how hard I try it never goes out of that plink, plink thin and treble sound. No good.

Mr Bennet posted a note on his website that showed where 50 brown Sounds left the shop with a accidental flaw that is correctable .
some pair of capacitors were placed in reverse order by a new employee last year that resulted in a "very thin sound"
He claims that if you have one of these. he will fix it free of charge or you can do the mod yourself, and he posted a how to on the site.
