This pedal does it's best work when the gain is backed off. It sounds cool for both guitar and bass. I picked mine up in Japan when RM stuff was all the rage. I don't regret the purchase at all.

My only complaints are that it is not true bypass and the early version I have has plastic shafts on the pots which is not completely reliable for people who abuse gear.

Roger Mayer is the original pedal boutique/guru. Some of his designs are a bit dated, as in predating true bypass and high tolerance component crazy. But they are affordable for most musicians. Heck Hendrix DID use his gear!
