V-twin
I hated every minute of it. In fact, the Mesa amps sound better than this pedal. (which is really bad, because I hate most Mesa amps) The tone is so compressed and buzzy. In fact, I found the blues and high gain channels to be opposite of what they should be...high gain channel was too loose and undefined, while the blues channel was too tight and focused. It's a tone-sucker, too. I did try to like it for about a year and a half. No go. |

I have both the V-Twin pedal and the V-1 Bottle Rocket. The Bottle Rocket is a great overdrive pedal! It just sings the note to you, you can get a lot of stones kind of vibe, the V-Twin pedal is not an exact copy of the V-Twin rackmount which was the seed for the Dual Rectifier. The V-Twin pedal plays dramatically different into different amps, what kind of amp are you playing it into?

I'm not sure what Mesa Boogie did when they developed the V- Twin but I found not only did it not work well with variuos other amps it didn't work to well with MB amps too! As a stand alone unit going direct to digital recording, it didn't do well and I went so far as to use it in conjuntion with other speaker emulaters and still it didn't do well.
The Bottle Rocket on the other hand works well with a variety of amps and also direct with the help of a speaker emulater. In short the V-1 bottle Rocket is a sweet little tone box! Cheers Craig check out my site Guitar From The Green goo for my gear and music. |
