I just scored a Nick Greer Batch O' Ass 2 on Ebay, and I must say, it's incredible. I emailed Nick about this particular one, and he said it was a prototype, and he remembered that it sounded amazing. Lucky me! Nick was right, this pedal does sound amazing. I've been using a Zinky True Grit for Overdrive, and it's an excellent choice. The Boost mode on the Zinky is incredible, it really pushes the pedal into a singing lead tone. Very impressive, the Zinky is an excellent choice, much better than a Fulldrive 2 by a longshot. Anyway, Back to the Greer BOA 2, it sounds much like the Zinky for overdrive, but it's simpler, with only 2 knobs. It has a bit more open-sounding bass than the Zinky, and I know it's an overused term her, but this pedal truly sounds organic! There's no harsh sounding I.C. chips here. The Greer BOA 2 is earthy when used for overdrive. Like a early 70's Ampeg VT22 pushed very hard. The BOA dosen't stop there; f you max the drive, and lower the volume, this thing becomes a raging fuzz beast. It compares favorably to my NVN Dino Fuzz, but the Dino is the ultimate Fuzz I have ever heard in my life. the Greer has a tiny bit less gain than the Dino, but it's a little more open-sounding. I wouldn't want to play without either. The both sound better than the dirty channel on my Mesa Mark IIB, amazing! It's not often that a pedal comes around that actually makes my playing sound MUCH better, but both the Nick Greer BOA 2, and the NVN Dino Fuzz do just that. I have tried most of the boutique pedals out for the past 15 years, and these two pedals are definitely the best of the best. Thanks Nick, and Joe, I.O.U. big!
