gave this pedal a work out tryed every possible way to make it work .looking for that thing.couldnt find it!i use at this time ,wah compressor,fulldrive2,eq,noise suppressor, chorus, delay.into a fender, blues deluxe. maybe this pedal in another rig might sound better but in mine like shit!added way to much trebel. if you could shut the fuzz off it might sound a little better . in a setup like mineyou would think(after the compressor but it sounded better first in line. dont even think of useing the wah like jimi did in who knows no good
this sounded nothing like the sound samples
seemed to likea light pick attack.needs a blend nob dry/effect and treble control sorry mike fuller this ones a dud in my book. thinking about the mini vibe now but spooked anybody tryed one yet ? sent the octafuzz back to musictoyz Frown Frown

i never have a hard time getting a good sound out of my octafuzz. in fact, i truly believe its haunted! it tracks nice on the lower registers (the infamous "who knows" sound) and it sounds crazy as hell when i use it with my teese wizard wah. i leave the boost all the way down usually, because i usually use another overdrive to boost it up a bit. works for me.

would you rather go to new york, or by bus?

I've been using Octavia-style fuzztones since the mid '70's. I originally started with a TycoBrahe Octavia which I had for years.

There's a trick to getting them to work the way they're supposed to:

One must (in most cases) use the neck pickup and play in the upper fretboard (12th fret and above) to make any of these respond properly. Otherwise, they just sound very brittle and nasal-like.

I have 4 Octavia's right now:
1. Roger Mayer Octavia
2. Roger Mayer Vision Octavia
3. VoodooLab Proctavia
4. Fulltone Octafuzz

All 4 of these work and respond the same way.

Hey Mesadude, I have the Fulltone Octafuzz and I agree with everything you said about how to use it.

Of the four you have, they all react essentially the same way, one don't track better or something? I'd like any insight you could offer on the differences. Not to pry or anything, I'm just really interested in these pedals. I think I'm only going to use the octafuzz for recording when I want that kind of sound, because either I need to spend a lot more time pissing off the neighbors with it or it is just too fickle to get what I'd need for live or rehearsal use.

I agree w/Mesadude but you also need to turn the neck p/u's tone all the way down to get "THAT" sound.
I have a Chicago Iron Octavian and I just LOVE IT!!

Also you can set the Boost at around 11:00 and the octave "blooms" in after the original note. Wink

Just a general reply:
I have a Fulltone Octafuzz w/the switch where you can choose just the fuzz option: very handy as it's a nice boost especially when used in conjunction w/another fuzz/distortion... . Also have and used extensively a RM Octavia. I do like this pedal, yet I REALLY dig the TycoBrahe sound the Octafuzz gets. To my ears it is more "musical", whatever that means (subjective, yeah).

So though both are very fine octave pedals, I am using more and more the Fulltone.

Jam on...
