Some many say they do both or have more gain than the nexts guy with the same circuitry.I want DISTORTION not a nother Tube Screamer/fuzz/boost but true Distortion.I get over the top distotion with my amp second channel with my Soul Bender,Germania and Blues Pro on. But,thats alot of pedals to turn off to get a clean sound on the fly.

Not sure what yer asking....but a Vintage Rat will give ya over the top distortion. Nothing like a tube screamer.

Hay, thanks for the reply I guess I'm looking for something that sound like my overdrive ,boost& fuzz on all at the same time .But, I need to switch to a clean sound faster.The RAT sounds cool but I would have to mod it for try bypass. But, I also looking at the different Bypass loops to put the overdrive,boost,fuzz for faster switching or I can buy the Rat and put it in the bypass loop to for true bypass.

Double-check those Rats. I think all the ones in production are true bypass, and my Vintage Rat (picked it up in a pawn show a few years back... no idea how old it is) is wired true bypass as well.

I thought all rats were t/b I know my vintage one is and i assumed all the orgional big box and rat II's were as well? It its not I can't hear and tone loss when one is in the chain

The two best "real" distortion boxes I have found are the MI Audio Crunchbox and the Subdecay Blackstar. Both sound fantastic and are very high gain.

The MXR Dime (Also built within the Double Shot) is an excellent pedal for full on lead distortion. It's only $70 if you shop online, and it's true bypass. Just note that it comes with an 18V power supply, but doesn't take batteries.

I also like the Keeley SEM/Ultra, but it's mid scooped, which makes fast leads more difficult to play. The Dime is very mid and high pronounced, which is best for fast leads IMHO ... if that's what you're looking for.

If you're looking to turn a clean channel into a distortion channel, the H&K tube factor is excellent. This pedal can stand up on it's own, where the others are best into an already distorted amp channel.

I got the Crunch Box. It's agreat match with my Blues Pro and I like that it does not scoop the mids.It also runs well with my HBE Germania infront of it.My fulltone Soul Bender and the Crunch Box go into darker than Death metla add the treble boost and my super reverb screams "good lord are you crazy!"The Crunch Box also sounds great with a wah.My quest for distortion is for filled.
