I had a chance to test one of these when the box arrived at my house in Leipzig in a Telenordia Tour Box that ran at TGP and was very impressed with the voicing and the controls. The only negative was some noise thru my rig if I turned my guitar volume all the way down.
Matt from Telenordia mentioned that they were working on a new version and seeing as his workshop in Berlin is only an hour from me and I was heading by the Plek workshop to pick up a Tele that had a new neck fitted and Plekked (they are only 1 stop on the U-Bahn from one another), I decided to drop in on Matt and give the new version a whirl. Long story short: I now own one! The new version has cured the noise issue I had before (different filtering I believe) and there is now a 6 position click knob to go from full range to treble boost instead of 5 positions. The excellently voiced treble control (only necessary when you click quite a few positions clockwise) is still there, as is the great clean-up via guitar volume which I particularly praise for getting along with guitars both with and without a treble bleed mod. The basic tone is chunky in a really retro way. Switch this unit on and it makes me play Lenny Kravitz style riffs (Mama Said, Rock ānā Roll is Dead) on the bass strings ā there is a great feel to it, between immediate and a touch of sag. Unwound strings have enough thickness and there is clarity in chords too. By the way, use a power supply and the unit stays quiet. My test rig was: Lollar Classic (SG) with Wolfetone P90s and Fender Nocaster with stock pickups into a Komet head (7581A) thru a Germino open back 2x12 (Scum H55/H75) Oh and by the way, Matt is a very nice guy and was most welcoming. It was nice to visit the workshop, chat and hang out and I think the boys at Telenordia have a very level-headed approach to the boutique market and have their eye firmly on building a top-notch product for real-world situations. I've been through many a treble booster (AM Beano, Keeley Java Boost, DAM Red Rooster, Scot60, Throbak Strange Master, /13 Dyna Ranger, Aretfact Audio Element 32...) and this is top notch in my book! Thanks again Matt! Chris PS Telenordia web-site This message has been edited. Last edited by: chrissy, |

Cool! Matt rocks, had some excellent e-mail conversations with him! I'm still GAS-ing for his compressor! I might go to Berlin in August or September, so maybe I'll hop by!

Hi Chris,
glad to hear that You like the new version I remember being heavily impressed by treble booster from the Telenordia Tourbox. Very nice sound and very versatile. Have a lot of fun with a new toy! __________ Cheers, Robert "May your notes sound like a baseball card in bicycle spokes" - P. Gilbert My gear... |
