Before you cut up your strat have you ever considered rewiring the tone pot to work on the bridge instead of the middle pickup? I think it's the secret to strat tone bliss. If that's not good enough, I've always thought about dropping a p-90 into the bridge of a strat. Talk about tone. If your heart is set on a 'bucker, I really love Rio Grande pickups, especially their BBQ bucker. Good luck on your search!

I don't think he's talking about cutting up his strat. He wants a single coil sized humbucker. I'd check out the Seymour Duncan line. He's got a lot of different choices. What are the pickups already in the Melancon?

I had a Dimarzio Fast Track and also a Red Lace Sensor at one point(the DiMarzio died on me and a Red Lace was a good deal at the spot doing the fret job and repair...) in a 74 Ibanez tele thinline. Both worked great but I havce a thging for DiMarzio pickups... and would be really curious about the Tone Zone single sized version if I was in your situation.

Vintage Vibe Guitars make an interesting array of single-coil size pickups. http://www.vintagevibeguitars.com/pickups.htmlThey also do quite affordable custom work. So if you don't see anything to suit your needs on the website, just contact them directly and they should be able to come up with something to suit your needs.

I tried the Duncan Hot Rails. It was pretty good, but just a hair too much honk for me. I switched it out for a Cool Rails and liked that much better. H

My friend Colin! How are you! I'm not too familiar with Melancon Strats. However, I'm a big fan of humbucking Strat bridge pickups. I have found that full size humbuckers sound better than the single coil sized ones. I would take a look to see if it has a rout big enough for a full sized humbucker. However, if you don't want that look and/or it doesn't have a swimming pool type rout... I would go with Duncan Little '59 as well. http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/stratoca...dge/little_59_for_s/

Thanks guys for the suggestions, I've been doing a bit of reading on it and the Dimarzio Vintage Solo DP420 sounds interesting (more p90 than full humbucker). I'll take the pickguard off this week and see if I could get away with fitting a full humbucker. Cheers guys.
Doing well, thanks Colin! The Dimarzio Vintage Solo DP420 is a very good choice indeed for more of that P90ish type thing (I love P90's). I don't know if you are leaning more towards a P90 type tone or a humbucker? If you want more of a P90 type tone/single coil size, I've heard alot of good things about this one: http://www.vintagevibeguitars.com/windows/sc_90Win.html

My own experience with bridge humbuckers in a Strat is that they don't make much difference. The Stellartone pot in the tone knob is a different story.
