Fellers,
I'm not going to lie. This one really has me concerned. I'm not concerned for my narrow arse (I'm in south GA), but I am VERY worried about my gulf coast bretheren. I just found this article on Drudge report--it's very unnerving...

I worked for Prudential Insurance many years ago and I still remember the video footage they showed us after Hurricane Andrew came thru FLA. Looked like a nuke had gone off. The Property & Casualty side of PRU *almost* went under from the cost of Andrew....to say nothing about the loss of life....

Basically, hold on, we are about have a major problem...

Hey Williebudda,

I offer my prayers and thoughts for y'all up in that part of the Gulf Area. I've already gone through Charley and Frances (the latter being the worst for the Tampa area) & I can say that I do not like hurricanes one iota....they suck!

I almost prefer earthquakes instead because they offer you no warning at all. Remember Loma Prieta back on 10-17-89? I went through that and I used to drive over that damn Cypress structure every day in Oakland. That was wild.

But I would suggest to everyone up where you are to evacuate if you are told to do so. This one is a real problem and Ivan is BIGGER than Frances was too! My thoughts are with you. Stay safe okay?

If I was there, I'd be riding the storm surge on my board right about now, diggin' those teasty barrels. Of course, my car would be packed already and the house boarded up.

Good luck Gulf Coasters. May nature send the next 'cane about 300 miles off of Long Islnad and then out to sea.

Hey, we should start a club! "Musicians Against Hurricanes!" Razz

We should line up several thousand players, all armed with 100 watt stacks near the shore and start blasting away..

I'm down near New Orleans, where we're on voluntary evacuation. They've had all four lanes on the local Interstates going north (I-55) and west (I-10) for a day and a half, and people have left in droves.

Better safe than sorry, I suppose, but personally, I'm looking forward to riding it out. When I was a kid, we used to have hurricane parties, with popcorn and alcohol (for the grownups). In fact, they've instituted an "alcohol curfew," believe it or not!

Where I live, we're expecting 60 mph winds and a bunch of rain. Heck, we get that in a good summer thunderstorm!

Now of course, the tornadoes the thing generates would be another story altogether...

So if this is my last post, goodbye, my new tone-hungry friends. I'll be off to the land beyond gassing, a land of 40 ft. wide pedalboards and 200 ft. tall amp stacks, where every instrument is vintage and the tubes never go microphonic.

2 Kings 2:23-24 NKJV:
And as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths."
