after posting here for quite some time now i have found that many of us look for common features in our pedals, wheather it be true bypass, small size, analog/digital, quality construction, reputation, etc.......... i'm curious, what do you think are the most important features when considering a pedal?

For me some of the important features are:
-Sound (I don’t care if it is analog or digital, as long as it sounds good to me).
-Price (I have pedals from all price ranges, and I am always happy when I find some good, inexpensive pedals. Fortunately, I’ve been lucky enough to find a couple of great deals on new pedals).
-Construction
-Versatility (I would love a chorus pedal that works as a great overdrive, flanger, delay, distortion, compressor, wah, volume, ebow, and gets me a cold beer from the fridge ) Seriously, an example would be an overdrive with an added channel or a boost, a flanger/chorus, etc. The Captain Coconut is a good example, but that is basically three pedals in one. Another example might be the Barber Dual Unit.
I don’t care too much about reputation, although it does help. There are some great pedal makers who are just starting out, thus, they don’t have a good reputation yet, but still they make some great pedals. On the other hand, these days a “good” reputation can translate into inflated prices (i.e., I paid $35 for a Boss SD-1, and about $100 for a TS9, and this is a conservative example).
I’m sure many people will disagree with me, but I think true bypass is overrated. Sure, I want my signal as pure as it can be, and many of my pedals are “true bypass” or “pure bypass“ or “some type of bypass” but some pedals that aren’t true bypass color the tone in a nice way.

My list:

1.Sound (why else would we need them otherwise they're expensive paper weights)
2.Compatability (pedals have to work well together)
3.Price(I love getting a great deal)
4.Features (everyone has different needs ie: led's, true bypass, size etc.)
5.Quality (anything can break but well builts break far less)

i think sound is a given. other than sound, what other features appeal to you.

Besides the obvious, I prefer pedals that are in a nice solid metal case, like a Hammond. I hate plastic pedals and I hate tiny little pedals. I hate pedals that are so light weight they drag all over the place when you tug on your guitar cable. The Guyatones and those new Danelectro pedals are supposedly really good sounding but I can't get past their puny size and questionable construction.

Also, and this may seem shallow, I like a hip looking pedal. I just got a Frantone Hep Cat and that is one hip pedal! Surf green, big old radio style knobs. Cool! I hate these boring, nerdy looking pedals like Carl Martin. I don't like these companies that make all their pedals the same color, like Voodoo Lab. What's up with that? When I look down at my feet on a dark stage I wanna see a bright red box, an orange one, a green one, etc. Not a bunch of black boxes differentiated merely by the lettering on them. That can be very confusing -- especially after a couple beers! :P
