I finally got my Rotosphere fixed. And I'm finally attatching it on my board! But, never tried it live or with the band yet. We'll see this weekend.
Wanna share your thoughts and feelings about the pedal? How do you guys mount it with that foam rubber on the bottom? Where do you guys like it? Before or after overdrive? Share! |

I've never played one of these but it seems that I've heard more than one person talk about running them through the effects loop(if that's even an option)

Actually it's suggsted to run it thru the amp's effects loop. but my AC30 doesn't have an effects loop.

I've had one for a couple years and enjoy using it on certain gigs. I don't use a pedalboard so it just sits on the floor when I use it. I always have it after whatever dirtbox I'm using. None of my amps have a loop so I'm forced to run it in front of the preamp. To get the quietest possible signal out of the Rotosphere I run the gain pretty high and volume down to unity or slight boost. Saturation can be a problem though if you're running a lot of volume boost with your overdrive. You might want to put it in a true bypass loop because the bypass mode seems to rob your straight-through sound of a little warmth. Too bad it doesn't have a true-bypass-mono mode option! Running in stereo adds much to the realism of the effect and sounds huge! Nice for gigs where you're the only chordal instrument and you want to cover some keyboard-like textures when backing-up horns or singers.

Thanks for the input clementunes. I know what you mean, it does rob a bit of warmth to your tone.

That is my exact experience also. In one amp I have a parallel effects loop and it helps some. The other is with all the pedals.
I wish the Roto II had the momentary brake footswitch also as the first one did. |

Have you guys heard the Option 5 Destinatrion Rotation? I'm thinking of, getting that instead?

Seems that some of the Effect Builders on this Board should start to Build a Leslie Unit without
the mistakes from the Tube Rotoshere. C´mon MR.Sweet, start with the Leslie Vibe |

I agree, felken, that new Breaker footswitch is just so wrong, wrong, WRONG! I'm getting pissed just thinking about it !
What were they thinking? (or smoking...?) They claim in the manual it will free up your foot to do other things... like what, dance? Who would want to leave it in stopped mode for any length of time? You want to RIDE the Breaker, not switch it and come back later... If I could find a good momentary footswitch, I'd try to rewire the thing... |

I'm asssuming it's got the same foam on the bottom as the Tube Factor OD, which I've attached to a board. I actually stuck the velcro to the foam and it's such robust foam that it worked out fine, even when pulling then effect on and off the board the foam stayed stuck in place. |

So does the RotoII have true-bypass like they claim?

I found a source for the momentary switches:
www.vibroworld.com part # = SW1045M I'm going to try to mod the Roto II Breaker back to Roto I operation. I'll let you know how I make out... |

Great, I have been thinking of doing that but never got around to it. Plus I have a stash of old Telefunken 12AT7's I want to try in it so maybe this will be a good time to open it up if it works well on yours.

What kind of tubes are you guys using on your Roto? Ever changed them yet? What are the signs of a dying tube for this one?

How does the breaker in the Roto II differ from the breaker in the Roto I?
Thanks. |

R1 has a monetary switch so the brake is active only while switch is held down.
R2 has a latching type switch so you have to click it to apply the brake and click it again to release the brake. |

In my old Roto I tried a couple different tubes -- JJ ECC83 was a little too dark and soft; I think I ended up keeping a Sovtek 12AX7LPS in there. The Roto II came with a Ruby 12AX7, and it's noticeably brighter than my old one.
Felken, I'd like to hear how the AT7 works for you -- while I've got mine open, I'll try a GE 5751 -- never tried it with a lower gain tube. I also have some JAN 12AX7s and new Chinese ones I can try... |

i'd also be curious to know how it stacks up tonewise to the option 5

I've had some guys e-mail me about it. They warned me not to sell the Roto for an Option 5, because after replacing it. They were totally disappointed that they have to get the Rotosphere back.
BTW, how do you guys connect your Rotosphere? I've noticed that I can actually mix and match the right mono and left plugs? Does this harm the pedal in anyway? How do you connect yours? Please be alarmed that I don't have an effects loop. |
