Lots of famous guests on this thing. Knopfler, Ford, Clapton, Buffett, and more.
Of the 2 songs I've already heard, it sounds great. Nice sounding recording. And the songs seem to be really good. Not just vehicles for wanking.
Can't wait to sit down and really listen to it!
So, not a full report. But, a head's up to all you PLAYAS!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up Swain. I'm a big Sonny Landreth fan, I didn't realize he had a new album out. Those are some pretty killer special guests as well...I'll be picking this one up for sure!
Oh Steve Stevens Rocks ...hugly underated 80's guitarist...Sonny kicks major but too...can't wait to hear the new cd... Mars?...I am also excited about the the phoenix's landing..perfect by all accounts...and in an important place as far as exploration is concerned... I think we're all brainwashed fanatics...

Sonny Landreth had some killin' slide playing on a song by Dr. John that was out a few years ago. I think it was called "Baboon and Monkey" or "Monkey and Baboon" Some song about this monkey that shot pool, smoked reefer, etc.. "He was a HIIIIGGGGHHH motherfucker....ready to shave your ass dry"
Grant Street is a killer. It's a live CD from a year or two ago. Fantastic sound, VERY representative of the shows he was doing at the time.
Outtward Bound has some great stuff, as well.
John Hiatt & The Goners', Slow Turning is another great showing by SL. As is the same group's Beneath This Gruff Exterior.

I've listened to the new Sonny Landreth a couple of times now while driving, but not when I could really give it a thorough listen. But, it sounds great.
I agree with Swain, Grant Street is a great place to start.

I've wanted to pick up some of his stuff. Can somebody tell me what CD's of his I should start with?
thanks! Matt
"South of I-10" is the one I like best, as far as an overall beginning-to-end album. The live Grant Street is great too. Hard to go wrong with Landreth. Such an original voice as a player, and tons of soul.
