At $79 shipped, it was a no-brainier to give it a try. While I'm not necessarily gonna go dump my TZF, or vintage MXR, this pedal offfers a whole lot of bang-for-the buck. Many of the settings in the manual are cool, and are also good starting point for tweaking. It seems very well made as well. I haven't tried to many of the other Rocktron pedals, are there any other sleepers in the group? Don't mention the Tsunami Chorus, unless they changed the circuit for the better when they lowered the price.

does it do weird wounds? Isn't there some switcch on it that randomizes something? How does that sound? What does that sound like? I've been really interested but haven't seen them around. thanks

Austin Gold is supposedly a Klon copy for $40. Big on HC. There's one on Ebay that I almost pulled the trigger on 4 times today. I've decided that I'd never use it.

The Hypnotic button adds a random lfo to the mix. It wasn't as 'hypnotic' as advertised, but does add another flavor and therefore versatility to the pedal. For $79 shipped to my door brand spakin' new I'm not complaining!

1) Is it true bypass, if not do you notice any signal degradation?
2) Is there a volume drop or boost when the pedal is engaged?
I had a little Guyatone Flanger that I liked the tone of, but I could NOT deal with the volume boost when I stomped on it. I have been looking for a cheap flanger to replace it (cheap because flange is not something that I use a lot, but something I would like to have in my bag of tricks).

Was just checking out the Rocktron website and they have a pedal called the Silver Dragon that apparently has two stages, one is a warm tube driven overdrive (with a real tube, not just "tubelike") and the other side is solid state metal roar. I have no clue how it sounds but it is intersting that no other pedal I can think of tries to provide these two options in one pedal.

That's what I'm still trying to figure out! When the hypnotic button is pressed in this feature is engaged. It does interact with the rate control, but I'm still trying to understand how. The trance knob (active when the hypnotic button is pressed) seems to be most efective in the extreme settings, around 7:00 - 8:00 and then again from around 4:00 - 5:00. In between I just don't notice much difference. It seems to change the flange modulation rate more than randomize it, but as I mentioned before it's interactive with the rate control (and possibly other controls). At one setting it kinda reminded me of tweaking the manual knob, perhaps it interacts with the other (or all) knobs as well.

1. I don't believe it is true bypass. At least if it is, I can't find any reference to it. However, I didn't notice any tone suckage in my low volume tests.
2. No volume change that I noticed. At times I thought there might be a very subtle volume loss, but later I felt it was just where I happend to catch the pedal in it's sweep when I turned it on/off. Certain frequencies may be slightly boosted/attenuated depending on where you are in the sweep, but overall the volume level stays the same as when bypassed.
