It is pretty much the ultimate distortion weapon. The noise gate helps it maintain super high gain/dirt level that wouldn't work without it. EQ is powerful and variable
That being said, I sold mine because, at that time, we were playing without a bassist, and I wanted something ultra heavy, more low end, less modern, more tame. So I think I was using OCD v.3 at that time (good bass), and the zvex woolly mammoth for heavier stuff (the ultimate bass fuzz, also gated, I think).
It was hard for me to have that much $ tied up in that particular pedal. If I was a modern metal player, I'd try a used one and then sell it and get my money back. I don't know how easy that is for you in South/Central America.
It doesn't suck if you're playing extremely heavy guitar.
If I was into '70's metal, I'd go for something more old school. To be as heavy as your bassist is not something everybody wants.

Thanks for your review.
I see your point.
I love when the Guitar notes ring true and love the 70s era. Love old school metal and believe that many muddy gainish tones are common this days.

I love crunch but love character and definition.. so maybe the BOx of mEtal lacks defined notes????? Hate buzzy-muddy gain, I like a well balanced frequency (low+mid+high).

Can you recall if the box of metal was too muddy or could it be tame into more tight sounds with balanced eq????
