I have a problem...with one of my strats.
I have had 10s for a while on this guitar, and had not noticed anything out of the ordinary, until the G string just popped out of its slot. Does that mean the slot is too wide/low/deep? It does that everytime I bend either the B one whole step from fret 1 to around fret 5. Or it does that also when I bend G one whole step from around the same spot on the fretboard. I took a look at the nut, and it seems that the G string is swimming in there, as opposed to resting fairly tightly. What should I do to solve this? Put a heavier gauge, so that the G sits more tightly in the slot and doesn't actually move around that much? I actually thought about putting some 11s or 12s on. Anyway, please help, this is urgent! If the nut slot is too wide, then you should notice that when you play the open string, it will usually buzz a little from vibrating within the nut. If the nut is wore out, then rather than using heavier guage strings, you should just get it replaced. If you want a quick fix, you can put some bone powder in the slot and put a drop of super glue in the slot. Then file it out a little with a needle file.

quote: Yes, it buzzes a little. That particular slot is the only one that it "defective". But would putting a heavier string in there solve this problem? For what it's worth, I check out another strat I have with a brand new warmoth neck. I tried to see if the problem was also present with that one, and the .017 G I have pops out as well, but only when I bend-stretch the B as hard as I can.
