Lookie what I received yesterday! I wanted a guitar similar to the guitars that Brad Paisley plays, so I went to the guy who builds his guitars, Bill Crook, and ordered myself one back in October. It plays as sweet as it looks. For those who aren't 'in the know', the lever on the back plate is the activator arm for the McVay G-bender.
Looks nice... excuse my ignorance but why a different saddle on the B and high E seems like a brass one while the other are not,,, picture angle or did I hit something here
That's really nice! His paisley guitars are a little much for me. I like his headstock design too. I am pretty picky about headstock designs on Fender style guitars but that one is nice.
Bizarre. I guess we're on the same wavelength Mesa. I ordered a solid black (red tortoise guard) g-bender Tele from him in november. Should be here next month. Your's looks beautiful! Did you get his 'standard issue' pickups: Adder neck and Voodoo bridge?
Pickup-wise this guitar sports a Voodoo bridge pickup and an Adder neck pickup. The Adder has a big, warm sound, plus it's supposed to be easier to adjust closer to the strings if one likes, as the magnetic flux (gauss) is lighter in these.
As far as the cost. Well, it's the most expensive guitar I've purchased to date. With the bender, it came to a little more than I paid for my Gretsch 6122SP four years ago. Maybe about the same as a new Les Paul Supreme from one of the big internet music outlets.
This is my 5th Telecaster-style guitar. I've got 2 Carvin Teles, 2 Fender Teles, and now this. One of the Carvins and one of the Fenders are set up tuned down a step.
The G-bender is quite something, and is very accurate. It can be tuned with a set screw on the neck heal. I adjusted it yesterday when I switched from .010's to .009's. Simple.
