wOW, is that a Char broiler I see in the distance? I hear burgers calling my name.

Seriously, she looks sweet but what exactly am I looking at?
It looks kinda like an Ibanez but I think it's a Carvin of some sort.

Use it in good health V-man

Thanks guys!

Oh right, I forgot to say what it is. Thanks George.

It's a Carvin CT4 California Carved Top. That's the plain maple top version. Changes from the standard features are: Floyd Rose trem, Dunlop Straplocks, Rosewood Fretboard, and Stainless Steel Fretwire.

Yes indeed, Glorbz, it has Sperzel locking tuners (and I ordered it with NO Floyd locking nut - I don't like those at all - PITB if you asked me). Big Grin

Very cool score van. I've only played a friend's DC135 before and I remember thinking it was one of the most comfortable guitars to hold and play. The neck I remember was great...comfy and fast. Let us know how greeny plays when you get a chance.

Awesome color! I love that.

How many Carvins do you have now? I think they should give you a freakin' endorsement deal!

Which PUs do they use now? The M22s?

Muchas Gracias, amigos. I'm diggin' this axe in a huge way after playing it yesterday.

Beck - One of the things I like most about Carvins is their playability. The necks they have been using on the bulk of their lineup the last few years is a nice Medium C profile, similar to a modern Fender only slightly thinner (or so my mits tell me). So, yes you're exactly right, they are both comfortable and fast. They balance well, and feel great in your hands. The new Green Monster is no exception. It is as near flawless as you could hope for, and the fretwork is excellent. Plays like butta'! I'm also impressed with how well this model resonates, even unplugged. Certainly it's the most lively solidbody I've owned.

Swain - I have 4 now. I've owned 8 total. The 4 that didn't quite work out were my fault. Carvin, for better or worse, will build exactly what you spec out. So it's best that you know exactly what you want/like before you place an order. Mind you, I think it was worth taking the hit on the 4 I sold - it allowed me to experiment with various factors and I learned a lot from them. Besides, if you consider that I've owned a dozen or so other guitars... only a couple of which are still with me... batting 500 is way ahead of the pack. They have several pickup options for this model including the M series, Holdsworth, and a few others; but standard are the C22B and C22J. Speaking of pickups...

As has been my experience in the past with Carvin guitars I'm very pleased and think this is simply a fantastic instrument, except for the electronics. Not that it sounds terrible, but I know it can sound miles better. In fact, I think this is the best sounding Carvin I've owned with the stock pickups (perhaps due to the liveliness and resonance?). If it sounds this good with the stock electronics... man, I can't wait to tear into it!

The plan is to remove the treble bleed, replace the ceramic tone cap with an Orange Drop, and install a Rio Grande BBQ / Buffalo set (my favorite humbuckers Big Grin). That will really get it's Mojo Workin', I guarantee. Cool
