Not "talk me out of it" help, of course--help figuring out what to get next. The Mrs. says I can have a new pedal when I finish the project I'm working on, and that's going to happen in the next week or so. So what should it be? Let's say the ground-rules are that it has to be a great pedal, it has to be under $400, and it has to be currently in-stock at Toyz. I already have an OCD (not sure which version) and a variety of other overdrives, a Fat-Boost 2, a decent Wah, a Homebrew Phaser, a couple of delays (Analogman-modded DD3, MXR Carbon Copy), a Barber Tone Press, A Barber Tri-Fecta Fuzz (nice!) and a few other odds-and-ends. What I don't have are a good collection of modulation effects: flange, Tremolo, vibe, etc., and I'm always in the market for a great-sounding overdrive. Mostly I'm into blues, rock-a-billy and alt-country stuff. Thanks in advance for any/all suggestions/interventions.

I went to the "Pedals" section of the TOYZ store. Here's a list of the brands carried.

It's hard to choose!

Do you have a really good Chorus pedal? A TC is pretty sweet.

What about a Pedalboard? TOYZ has some pretty awesome choices there, also.

I had a TC and couldn't justify keeping $300 in it since I never used it; plus the built-in power supply thing was a little funky with my set-up. I'm thinking I might go with the TC Nova Mod, which at $249 does a bunch of mod effects w/ 9 presets, iirc. I have three pedalboards: an older pedaltrain which is a slightly awkward width, a pedaltrain PT Jr. for band practice (just right for 3 or four "must have" pedals), and a Rockcase, which is pretty nice but has a 1" lip around the part your pedals stick to that limits its usefulness a bit --even w/ angled cables you have to crowd your pedals into the middle to get to them. I'm currently using it for effects-loop stuff; phase, delay, etc. So none of my pedalboards are "perfect," and as the gear collection grows it would be nice to have a bigger one, esp. one that allows you to mount a power supply underneath.

The drunker I sound, the better you get.

Thanks, Murphy--these are great suggestions. I've also been pondering the Vexter Fuzz Factory: any thoughts?

ooooh, I've got that one( vexter ver.) and it is probably my favorite pedal on my board ...but be warned, it's not an "all the time pedal" ( at least in my situation...blues/rock or is it rock/blues? Big Grin)
I love the looks I get when it comes on though(from the band- wincing, wide eyed horror, etc...)...it great to explore distorted, broken kinda tones although it can be tuned in for a great fuzzface kinda tone...I run that into a UniVibe emulation( MM4) for one of our originals and it is the song that people invariably come up and say "your guitar sounded so cool"...what more do I want? It is a great contrast to the OCD which I also have...

The Vexter FF is good for noisemaking but as a regular fuzz, not so much because it's thin/harsh and cuts the bass. There is a mod however which allows more bass through. It involves changing 2 caps at the input and output. It helps a WHOLE lot towards making it a full-time fuzz, makes it so much more usable adn you still get the wacky sounds.

That Demo video of the Box Of Metal was pretty sweet!

But then again, so do those Trailer Trash boards.

Decisions, decisions.........

if you don't hane your stuff on a board I have to say that might be the way to go...it's maybe not as exciting ( although the Trailet Trash are VERY cool!) it'll make you feel better in the end...I went with the pedaltrain, but the Trailer trash are the cat arse!! as far as the FF goes it can be shrill...but I just knock the tone on my guitar back and it's good to go...I'm using a darker sounding rig maybe?...cut's through like a dream...a wet one! What's the top material on the glow-top model? How would you guess the pedals stick to it? Most mysterious. I wrote and asked them but haven't heard back. I like the idea a lot as a display for a (growing) collection...

I had a chance to play some of the stuff at Toyz, and I cannot recommend the Lovepedal 200 lbs or the Dr Scientist Tremolessence highly enough.

The 200 lbs has one mean and low-down fuzz tone, and with the gain on minimum, dirties things up very, very nicely. For my set up, it's the one pedal I'd want anytime, anyplace!
