I got my new Tele (MIA).
while I like the sound, the hum from the stock pups is just too much.

I know that Kinman sells two Tele sets (Broadcaster and Custom sets). A little too expensive for me.

What are some other Tele pickups which are noiseless. I emphasize that It should be noiseless.

I have the Barden pups in mine and they are GREAT! Very vintage with as little or as much output as you want (depending on pick up height).

I'm not sure about "noiseless," but I really like the sound of the Fralins in my Tele. I also had a strat pu installed in the middle position (making it a "Nashville Tele"). Lindy was very helpful about listening to what I wanted and making the things to my specs.

If the Kinmans are too pricey, check out the Bill Lawrence L-280 & L-290 TN & TL. I haven't played these but have read lots of positive reviews at the Fender Forum, and they are considerably cheaper than the Kinmans.

I second the Bill Lawrence tele set. I've had the 280/290 set for a few years now and couldn't be happier with tele pickups. They are clear, bright, punchy and pack a wallop of output. DEAD quiet pickups...Bill knows his shit.

I will read up on that. Seems like If I can get rid of hum I may not change the pups at all.

simple...there aren't any good noiseless pup's! you got to have a bit of noise to have the mojo.

on a more serious note, I actually like the fender noiseless for alot of applications. bardens sound like a pile of %@#!, imo..the more I hear em the more I hate em. to each his own, though. 8)

my favorite medium is fralins...low noise for the pickup type and great tone. good luck whichever pup's find their way to you.

I have a set of the Fender Noiseless, and I think they'll turn a tele into a really fine sounding jazz guitar. Not enough presence and spank for country though. I currently have a set of Fralin Vintage pups in my '69 tele thinline RI, and they're usually quiet enough (I don't use a lot of gain with my tele setup.) Though at a gig last night I had to keep it in the middle humbucker position 'cause I was plugged into the same circuit as the neon signs

I do agree there is some difference between noiseless and conventional sc's but these pups in my tele sound like a tele and I can sit in front af my pc monitor with a podxt and have no noise.

The bridge pup has a lot of bite and the neck is somewhat stratish.

Bill is one of a kind also, I have been treated very well by the folks over there and would do business there again.

Thanks, Ken. Means alot coming from you. And you make a good point about the noiseless pickups. I think its understood by many that there is a tradeoff when you go for noiseless vs. true vintage tone pickups. But with the Lawrence set, what you get back in return is plenty of its own mojo. Your tele still sounds VERY tele...a little more "broadcaster" in the bridge and more "strat" in the neck like you said. The middle position just sounds killer with these pickups too.

Know what you are getting with noiseless...and know what you are getting with Fralin/Barden, etc.
