I know it's been awhile since I've posted; I've been busy doing lots of stuff: performing feats of strength at local kindergartens, teaching gravel to speak, helping blind people experience the joy of the rollercoaster, saving the town's water supply from terrorist/polygamist midgets, etc. You know how it is.

Anyway, one pedal I've never had (but always wondered about) is the Eternity. I was cruising ebay today and bought one on a whim (I'm not usually a "Buy it Now" kind of guy). After I'd paid for it, I noticed that it's a different model number from the white and sunburst Eternity pedals I'm used to GASsing for; it's Orange.

So has anybody tried an Eternity E6? Is it basically the same thing but with more gain on tap? what's the deal?

2 Kings 2:23-24 NKJV:
And as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths."

Sounds like it isn't much like a normal Eternity.

From the Lovepedal site:

The E6 features wicked grind, VERY low compression, increased "Mid Chirp"
50% more tone control and twice the pre gain as the Silky Smooth ETERNITY OVERDRIVE UNIT..
The E6 DISTORTION IS NOT a smooth pedal..
. It is RAW in nature and attitude and can be a superior clean boost in the "off gain mode"
Guitar Player Magazine asked for it, we gave it to them!

In a review at HC they say:

This is a very easy pedal to use HOWEVER...keep in mind that it's NOT AN ETERNITY

The "E" circuits are all nearly the same. A part difference here or there. The E6 does have more gain than the others. It's not nearly as raw or wild as people say. It's just a little hotter than a standard E. All the fancy buzz words in the description are just fancy words.

Oh, and BTW it's a Tubescreamer. If you don't like TS pedals, you won't like the E.

Don't worry.... I've held the degooped circuit in my hand. It's a TS.

Maybe the politically correct way of saying it would be " re-voiced TS". Big Grin Wink

I love my Roadhouse E, and the E6 seemed perfect for my needs as a 2nd E on my board.

It has some more gain, sounds less compressed, but it sounds thinner and 'smoother' too. That's too bad, because that's what I like in the E, a fat tone with with a nice complex 'hair' on the notes (what I miss with other TS clones).

It's for sale! Big Grin

Personally, the E sounds different enough from the TS for me to have both on my pedal board. Bottome line--use your ears.

Yeah, if you guys say its base circuitry is TS then I gotta believe you. But the E I had for several years was waaaay better in touch and touch than most TS's and TS variants I had tried up to that point. The E I owned was version 1 I believe, and it even was originally housed in Sean's old style boxes with the screws going through the top face plate instead of the bottom. Despite any controversy over this pedal and its many incarnations over the years, I really liked mine and miss it today.

Hey Beck,

You are correct about the "E" having better touch than a TS. The reason for this is that the "E" is a TS without the buffers. A pedal without an input buffer can usually be much more dynamic and touch sensitive. Good call out.

Thanks Dan ... you do a much better job explaining the tech behind my rambles! I meant to say touch and tone...not touch and touch. Doy!

Headshot you just cant leave this guy alone can you??? what is it? Did he piss you off really bad sometime? I'll give you the reason of a doubt here but what gives??? Why the need to slam him all the time? I don't even have a love pedal, but several of my buds have an E and they sound great.

Where am I slamming him in this thread? And where do I say the E is a BAD pedal?
