Hello, I was looking at a 68 reissue Fender Stratocaster at Sam Ash yesterday and I would like to know if it is the type from America that was sold many years ago before they went made in Mexico, or is it the kind you order from Japan. Here are the details - serial #AO21190, olympic white,decal on headstock is not a true 68 but more of a 1966-67.Says crafted in Japan on lower neck. I had the same guitar ten years ago but mine said made in Japan and the body was basswood and also had a slightly different rear contour and the color was a different shade of white than olympic. I remember the catalog saying it was vintage white,but not the same as an Yngwie signature strat. The salesman said the previous owner said it was a late 90's. I am just trying to figure out if the body is alder which I want, or basswood which I don't really want. Sorry for the long story and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
