Thanks to everybody who replied to my "Best FD2 Type Pedal?" thread a while back. A number of people mentioned the Texas 2 Step, so I decided to order one form Toyz. Took me a few of A/B sessions with my blue FD2 and some tweaking to fully appreciate this pedal (the internal boost screw was turned way too high when I got it), but man does this thing sound great now. It's definitely a bit more clear and natural sounding than the FD2 (which is close, but seems just a little flat and muffled by comparison). The TTS has some nice high end sizzle that the FD2 lacks and that's what sold me. Just a great blues and Billy Gibbons sound with my Lester R8. Between my HoneyBee and the TTS, I now have low-, medium- and medium-high-gain covered. Can't wait to try it at my gig tomorrow night. I believe this thing has earned its velcro. Thanks for the recommendation!

Good decision!! I suspect it'll work out for you at the gig just fine. That's the one pedal that would always bring compliments from the soundman.

That's great to hear. I like my oldie, but maybe it's time to get one of the new TTS's too.

I'm thinking the same thing too. I've #10. There's been a lot of changes since then. ------------------------------------------ A closed mouth gathers no feet...... Gibsonchild 3.1 |

Hey guys,
Glad you are digging the pedal Pheonix! (and the rest of you tone hounds as well) You know sometimes it's easy to get nearly burnt to the core building and it's threads like this that make it all worth it! If you ever have any comments, problems, questions or what ever you can always feel free to email as well. Thank you for purchasing a PedalworX pedal and rock on brothers and sisters! Regards, George |

Thanks for the replies, guys -- and good to hear from you, George! The pedal was great at the gig tonight (a double-bill with another band - we were the first act, so I'm home earlier than usual). The TTS stacks really well with my BJF HB, and sounds great in its own right. We do classic rock and blues, including several SRV and ZZ Top numbers, and of course the TTS really shone there. I want spend some more time really dialing things in, but I can tell the pedal will work great for me -- it already sounds great! Looks good on my board, too -- I like the graphic a lot (really cool, in a subtle way). Great job all around, George!

George,
I bought a TTS (TTS Elite) ser#127 a few weeks ago. Great pedal. Is this a standard TTS? I`ll get some op amps tomorrow. Broke the leg on the standard TTS one when swapping. Any other op amps worth trying? |

The TTS is the only drive on my board!

This is what the current pedals will look like. I went back to the Red powder coating and designed a new board layout. The TTS comes with the TLO82 ic chip but other good ones are JRC4558 - more hair/dist JRC4559- Cool sounding but a tad dark perhaps. TLO72 - sounds like the JRC4558 to my ear. Hey Threm, that pedal you have is one of six that I made like that. The toggle on there is the heaviest duty toggle I could find. Thanks again for the words and pics fellas! Regards, George Hey Broken String, What kind of pedal is that Cusack Tap a Whirl pedal? What's the pedal to the left of the DLS ped? |

Hey George,
The "Tap-A-Whirl" is a trem pedal. What makes it special is you can set the speed of the trem by tapping the switch. It's a lot of fun to have the delay "in time" with the band! It also is great sounding. This is the first trem pedal I've had that I've been excited about, and I've had 3 others. The other pedal is a TC Jaurneg Model T Luxury boost (or something like that). It's basically a clean boost, but can add a little grit. A great pedal. George, I'm curious about that JRC4558 chip that has more "hair". Is it a very dramatic difference? I love the TTS, but sometimes I wish it had a touch more aggression/distortion. I wouln't want to lose that great "low gain" first channel sound, though. How could I try this chip? Thanks! |
