well, if i were you, i'd go for the timmy. that's just me. i don't find that much use in the boost channel of the tim. it's not worth the extra money for my purposes.
I disagree. Worth the extra money? If we were taling about a pedalman vs a Landgraff, i'd think of this question as valid.
I think the Boost function is very useful. I don't think you can go wrong getting the boost side. I am positive some more people will disagree with me on that one. I happen to find some good use for the boost channel. YMMV, as they say. Kick it up a notch for more saturated rhythm. If you have a booster on your board before the TIM, you have 3 different gain stages of just purely natural sounding saturation, and it's a beautiful thing. Sounds just like a small cranked amp.

yeah, i know what you mean, and i think most people could use that boost function well. i just felt like it got a little farty, and it didn't justify my extra $50, or the extra room on my board. it certainly might for everyone else. it did sound great with my slide on the higher strings though.
I agree with Hendrix2430 I love the boost side of the tim...but I roll back on the guitar volume a little and it seems to take a little of the fizz out, I think you are hearing. BTW one of my favorite setting is with both gains almost cranked with the boost on and roll back the guitar vol to 2 or 3... man! sweet singing butter through my blackface fenders...
jimmie, if the boost side is 'farty' you can roll out bass with the boost tone control, that keeps the distortion alot tighter. I do find that the boost adds some harsh highs as it doesn't have the benefit of it's own treble cut control, but I just roll my guitar's tone off 1 or 2 notches and it's perfect.

I don't see where one can complain about extra money when the TIM w/ boost is only $155, as compared to most HYPED overdrives that are $200+. A 2 channel OD that kicks ass is definitely worth $155, or more. Get the TIM.

yeah, there is that. go for the whole thing. it isn't that big, it's only 50 dollars extra, and you're bound to find some use for it. i guess i was just being a cynic. the TIM does $300 or more worth of stuff, and whether i found it useable or not right then, it would definitely still be able to come in handy. i stand corrected. do it up.
