Here is an update for Mr Toyz and forum, The Dual Discrete enclosures arrived. The Dual Discrete is a custom pedal that Teddy can order from B-Custom (the Barber custom shop), you pick two of our "three knob" overdrives and they are built by Ronni in your choice of black, blue or red enclosures with knob choices of black, blue, white, cream, red, grey, you can even mix knob colors on a unit. Drives to pick from are DD, DD LG,DD SS, LTD, LTD SR, and Tone Pump. The enclosure measures 3.7" wide x 5.7" long x 1.77" tall. The package saves space on the width of your pedalboard, eliminates a patch cable, and in most cases adds internal trims, such as; DD, DD SS, DD LG, LTD and LTD SR get internal midrange control.

Kick ass!!! Those look sweet.

What's the little hole for?

Are the circuits the same as the stand alone pedals?

The little hole is where the rivet goes from the swing out battery clip, these are just mock ups without electronics inside, so the rivet is not in place.

the circuits are the same except the additional control in most cases puts a trim where a fixed resistor was...more tweaks!

Unsolicited testimonial-every Barber pedal I've ever played or owned has been top notch in build and tone.

Thanks for the info Dave!

+1 on the unsolicited testimonials. All of the Barber stuff I've tried has been top notch. One question for Dave: why is the Clark Gainster no longer in production? Beautiful low-med OD, the Gainster.

The Gainster is just on vacation at the moment, no decisions have been made... I think Teddy may have a few Gainsters left?

BUT!, I don't see any reason why a Gainster or two could not be mounted in a Dual Discrete, as long as it has Mike Clark's blessing.

Unfreekingbelievable! GREAT idea, David! Fulltone had the GT-500 but it's not like 2 of his pedals in 1 and you sure can't mix & match.

I actually thought of the very same thing this summer for my next build, incorporating 2 of my favorite pedals into one. Each is 4 knobs, so it will be more crowded but similar idea. I'm guessing the boxes are taller to fit the PCB's one on top of the other?

The boxes are just tall because that is how Eddystone makes them, I would not mind them being a little shorter, but; if wishes were horses, beggars would ride...

Here is how the PCB's fit.

One thing that would be a great little custom tweak for this pedal would be a switching option that allowed you to change the order: LTD>DD, or DD>LTD.

How about a Tone Pump and a Linden EQ? Or maybe even a BarbEQ? What exactly makes the thing Discrete? And do you offer that stacked Op-Amp feature here, even though there probably aren't any in the TP and those EQ's?

I thought you might mention the transporter feature, that is a very popular request. Big Grin

We have to stop adding features somewhere, otherwise endless features lead to endless $$$$ to build.

Well, sure. But might the transporter (beam me up, Dave!) be available for an additional fee? Or I could trade you an external transporter switch for an internal trim pot.

List is $349.95

The value breaks down like this:

The DDD includes two hand built (in the custom shop) pedals (2x$150), most options will pickup a midrange control that was not on the original pedal ( call that + $30), you save $10-20 on not needing a patch cable to go between the two pedals, and you improve the sound quality because there is no coax and plugs/jacks between the pedals, the DDD only measures 3.7" wide, which is the same width as a single pedal. You get three choices of custom two color process paint on the enclosure (red, Black, Blue), your choice of knob colors including mixing colors(black, red, blue, white, grey, cream), Ronni and/or David and/or dealer consults on your custom project...Did I mention Ronni builds every DDD? Smile

We had a bunch of requests over the last few years to make a pedal that could contain a DD and LTD, we just took it a little further with the options, we still managed to bring in the price at less than some builders charge for a single channel three knob pedal...pretty cool!

When are you going to do a double Barb-EQ? The ability to switch between BF clean and then a Marshall or Tweed boost could be way cool.

Most cool! Anyway you could make that a dual 4 knobber? Two Small Frys in one package would be too cool!

So many pedals, so little time...

Currently there is not a drilling fixture in our shop for dual 4 hole units, we would base demand for such a dual 4 knob fixture on sales for the current Dual Discrete, if things go well, then it is possible. Players have been telling me like mad "if only I could get an LTD and a Direct Drive in one box, I would absolutely buy one"...let's see how this goes! Smile

Drilling fixtures are expensive, so I like to be able to spread out the expense over lots of volume sales so we don't have to pass the expense on to the customer. I get emails asking for very esoteric designs, that require custom silk screens, paint, fixtures, and circuits, they seem shocked when I tell them $1500-$2000 for one pedal. A Lodge cast iron skillet is dirt cheap at Wal Mart and Sears, but ask them to make a Lodge Skillet for you in the shape of a county in Texas, now what does that skillet cost?

Tell all your friends to buy the three hole Dual Discretes, if the interest is there, then we can talk 4 holers! Smile

Thanks for the interest!!
