since my DM-2 died, none...I miss it TREMENDOUSLY!
I had 3 different CE-2 Chorus pedals over the years, but never really 'got it' from them... _=__--____-----> www.marcylordsarmy.com "I will pray that you end your heathen and wicked lifestyle." - Marcy Lords, August 1973 |

Well...
My "regular" pedalboard(whatever that means this week TU-2 Tuner CS-3 Compressor (modded) BD-2 Blues Driver (highly modded) SD-2 Dual Overdrive (modded) DS-1 Distortion (modded) DF-2 Dist/Feedbacker (modded) BD-2 Blues Driver (modded, and used as a boost) GE-7 EQ... might not make the final board PH-3 Phasor CE-2 Chorus (modded) RV-2 Reverb DD-2 Digital Delay (modded) I'm still thinking about adding a pitch shifter of some sort. Maybe the Super Shifter, or Harmonizer. Head ______________________________ 10-24-08 RIP Bob Sweet. A DD-3 w/ the Analogman mod.
My TU-2 may replaced soon by a StroboStomp, which would make the DD3 my lone Boss pedal. A www.aaroncheney.com |

I use the DD-3 Delay and RV-5 Reverb, I use to have the TU-2 but replaced that with the Korg DT-10.

quote: your thoughts on this pedal, as I am in the market for a delay...but am..reticent to drop $200 on a Boss item...and I can pick up a pretty nice analog delay for less...so, what do you think of the DD-20 compared to other delays you have encountered? I am especially innarested in whether it is warm, organic and non-process sounding? Thanks. |

TU-12 (but thinking about a Strobostomp) and DD-6 (which seems to be like a DD-3 with the addition of stereo inputs)
------------------------------ 2 Kings 2:23-24 NKJV: And as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths." |

I actually don't like the TU2. I found it not very accurate. I use a DT7. Other boss pedals on my board:
RV3 DD3 DD6 LS2 DC2 All are great and I can't see replacing any of them. "Poor soul, he was just too high strung... I'm afraid the strain was more than he could bear." |

quote: I love the DD-20. It replaced a Maxon AD-80 analog delay on my board because I wanted something with a longer delay time. I think the analog delay setting on it is the best digital replica I've heard. It is warm, quiet, and the unit has a tone knob so you can set how murky you want the repeats to be. The digital delays are clean without any digital harshness. I find I use them as much, if not more than the analog setting. It's got tap tempo plus four presets (five if you include the manual setting). The tape echo setting won't fool anyone into thinking it is an old echoplex, but I've still found a use for it at times. The sound quality is nice it just doesn't have the depth that say the Fulltone TTE has (and it's also about $500 cheaper). In fact there's not really a bad setting in the box. The modulated delays are great and the dual delay has allowed me to setup some killer slapback tones for rockablilly stylle licks. The looper is easy to use and a great practice tool but for guys really into the loop thing it is probably going to fall short in features (mainly it won't store a loop once the unit is switched off). I will say that the two special FX patches are pretty much worthless to me, but that's not a sound quality issue, just a judgment on the patches themselves. They are gimmicky. It has got a great buffer in it. My signal chain actually sounded better once I dropped this at the end of the line and I tend, for the most part, to be a true bypass snob. The only criticism I have of it is that it won't do the UFO landing thing on the analog patch, but beyond that I have been 100% satisfied with it. Oh yeah, it is kind of picky about how it is powered. It takes a FULL 9v. My patch cords from my Furman pedal board's power supply wouldn't run it, but a Boss 9v adaptor plugged into the one of the board's three outlets has worked fine. Don't shy away from it because it is a Boss. It is a great unit that covers a lot of sonic ground and it does not have a tone that screams "digital". _______________ Soli Deo Gloria |

quote: DD6 has stereo outs and much longer delay times, plus gimmicks like reverse delay and tap tempo. THe DD3, on the other hand, uses the same compressor/expandor chips as an analog delay, and sends the repeats through a feedback loop for each new echo. Newer pedals use the same bit sample for each echo. It is a very "analog" sounding delay pedal. It also means that w/ the anolog man high cut mod, each successive repeat gets darker and darker, just like analog, whereas a DD5 or DD6 won't. For me, the DD3 has been a perfect comprimise between analog and digital. Must be for a lot of other people too...there's a reason why Boss still makes it. A www.aaroncheney.com |

DD-3 is my only Boss pedal..What makes the DD-3 so good is that it's 11 bit..Sometimes older technology is better..It's less sterile and metallic sounding than some other delays..

Man, I did not know all the science behind it, but now it makes total sense. I SWEAR I could hear that the DD3 was warmer or not as "exact" as the DD6. To be totally honest, I was kinda bummed because I dumped my AD80 as I was not into the sound of analog anymore. I really wanted a DD5 or 6 I guess. One of those things that I figured only me and my finicky Toyz friends could hear so I'm in no rush to find another DD5 (which I had sold before the AD-80, do I have a problem
I use the DD3 for all the time ambient delay. I use the DD6 for it's warp feature, which is a cool gimmick, I must admit. "Poor soul, he was just too high strung... I'm afraid the strain was more than he could bear." |

Another DD-3 delay user here. I've got two of them on my board, one set for short delay one for longer ambient type delays. I'm also using a CE-2 chorus and the TU-2 tuner, but that Peterson Strobostomp looks tempting...

Recently, I've had a Keeley modded BD-2 and Ultra Mod DS-1 as well as a Headshot (DS Designs) modded DS-1 on my board. I favored one setting on the DS Designs DS-1 mod over the Keeley DS-1 although I could use either in a live setting. At the moment, none are on my board as Headshot is going to be tweaking his mod for me a little more. Great pedal!

The TU-2 was the last Boss pedal I had. Upgraded to a VS-1 and recently replaced that with a StroboStomp.
