I guess I place a certain amount of value on the phrase "IN MY OPINION" when speaking out with "conviction".[/B][/QUOTE]

Who's opinion did you think I was conveying?

Well, I've never been afraid of stating my opinions so here goes! I have an SHO, I have a Don Butler Rangemaster, and I have a Klon. I use the KLON 95% more often than the other 2. They're all cool pedals, but the Klon is quiet and just plain sounds great with most of my amps. The Rangemaster is ONLY useful if I set up an amp REALLY BASSY. It's a treblebooster. If you use a treblebooster with an amp set the way you'd normally set it up , you get a nasally trebly ear piercing sound. You set the amp up overdriven and bassy and it gets a really cool tone. Totally cleans up with your guitar's volume knob to........Meanwhile the Rangemaster and SHO are both relatively very noisy compared to many of my other pedals. Set up where they really start making the sound rich and good, they have LOTS of hiss. Just like my Germanium fuzzes when you turn down your volume pot to clean them up.. That's ok for home use if the noise doesn't bother you too much, but I can't use them at gigs unfortunately. Just too noisy........ AS for the guy mentioning the new ZVEx superduper dealie is like 1 SHO cranked to 10 into another cranked to 10.... I was really curious when that pedal came out how noisy is it. If you crank 1 SHO to 10 you get lots of noise! A few times with my Vanous amp set really bassy I used a SHO and my Rangemaster and got a really awesome harmonically rich glassy old Marshall sound.. Just a beautiful tone, but the noise was unbearable........Oh well, I certainly wish you could get these tones without all the extra hiss! ERIC

Thanks ericb, I haven't heard much info on the Don Butler/Toneman Rangemaster & I recently ordered one, so I was curious what another user had to say about it. He says that he makes a version that is more full range. He hasn't started building mine yet, so I'll keep that in mind.

The Klon wasn't fo me. I did no perform well with my other pedals. In fact it diluted and dominated the tone of all other which are true bypass. I was impressed but I don't like my tone to be sucked out like that. Some guys do, some don't even know it is happening. mnot knocking the Klon it's just not or me.

I've had my Klon since Bill's first guitar show. It has served me well. It just takes my amp (DC30) and gives me a little more oomph. I have turned many people on to them over the years. All have turned out to be happy Klon-users. But, like anything, it is all up to your certain TASTES. Nobody here should get bent out of shape. Just let a man enjoy his good tone and move on. Thanks.

I just wanted to say that I dig where Scrapper was comin' from with that comment about leaving Santa some cheese. That's a funny commercial.
