Very nice gear collection there VanStone!
How long have you been using the AC Booster? I'm thinking of getting one to use as a low-to-medium gain drive, I really like the RC and the BB so I thought that I'd check out the AC as well. I dig the sounds that Allen Hinds gets out of his...any thoughts would be much appreciated! |

Let's see, I think I've had the AC about a year. As I understand it, the older models were close to a tube screamer in terms of gain and compression (with a little more gain). The newer ones, like mine, with the LED up near the top are a little less compressed and have still a bit more gain on tap. It is naturally mid pushed, but not as much as a TS.
One of the things I like most about the Xotics are the B/T controls. They have nailed how the mids are centered, so that the B/T are very effective (but you've probably noticed that already with your RC and BB). For a Blackface style amp, there are other pedals I would choose over the AC. That's my Marshall board it resides on, and sounds just fantastic there for a low - medium push. V |

I don't think you are ever done with GAS. It think GAS has to be done with you.
That Reverend Roundhouse that I just got- cured my GAS for a LP. But, now all it did was give me GAS for more Revs! This message has been edited. Last edited by: nlopez, |

OT: Van, I love your new avatar. I got that record for my 8th b'day and it really had a profound emotional effect on me (as KISS merch tends to have on little kids). I was playing "Hard Luck Woman" the other day. Killer song.

Funny you should say that, Porkchop. Rock and Rollover was the very first record I ever bought. Rock meets, like, comicbook superhero characters... What more could a 10-year old want? \,,/

my parents still have the table that I "decorated" w/ the stickers
there is another reason I miss albums...imagine trying to shove that sticker page or the build your own cardboard UFO ( from ELO) into a cd cover...now if you get a crappy cd the only extra you get is a new drink coaster... ...the pervy sage |

Yep. I just turned 12. I did not know that they had a new one coming out and BAM I saw it at the record store. I remember that a fellow Kiss comrade was graduating 8th grade and my mom asked me what to get him as a gift. I told her to buy RRO. She commented that she was not going to spend that much money! Wow what did it cost? I think Alive II was like 9.95. Does that sound right? I am having major flashbacks of that cool record store- 25 cent comics, cheap Big Macs, Kahla Broussard... umh, I gotta get back to work....... |

I didn't even know about them, much less they had a new album. They were actually running T.V. adds for their upcoming concert (first time I'd ever seen anyone doing that). There they are on TV with Gene dripping blood and blowing fire... No way my parents would have taken me to the concert at that age, but I knew I had to have that record. So I did extra chores to earn the $6 - $7, or whatever it was, to buy the record. Thus began my lifelong love of Rock music. V |

Oooh my--how do you like that Plush Drive? Considering a Cream for meself...
And the Screw Driver? My Liquid Sunshine is great, but I'm considering nixing it for another reliable low gainer. Sweet sweet rigs, VS. I think G.A.S. is over when you look at a post like this with zero salivation. - - - - - - - Armada-Band.com MySpace.com/ArmadForPresident Facebook.com/pages/Armada/35001145680 |

I have two rigs. Basically "Plexi" and "Blackface". The board with those pedals goes with the Blackface (a 6L6-loaded Allen Accomplice JR.).
I tried several Dumble-in-a-box(ish) pedals: BB, Howie, Zen, Jetter GS Red, and Plush. The Plush is my fav', by quite a ways, for Robben / Larry tones. My only niggle is that the bass response of the Plush is quite big. I usually run my RC with it, using the RC to attenuate the bass. The Plush sounds best with humbuckers and a warm guitar. The Screwdriver is a personal favorite, and one of my longest running pedals. I think it's been with me for over 2 years now. It has a huge range of usable tones, but I use it almost exclusively as my low-gainer. I like it best with an SC Strat for those Hendrix / SRV gritty-cleans, which it does with that amp just beautifully. Set with the gain on the low side like that it is very uncompressed and responsive to volume knob changes. V |
