I read something indicating that there is a new version of the Hotcake with an extended lower end,for bass or guitar. Has anybody else heard anything about this,& if so,how does it compare to the original? I am a big fan of the Hotcake.

Hey Dave, I don't know of any such box, but that doesn't mean it isn't in the works. I spoke to Paul Crowther (via email) a couple of months ago and he didn't mention it. God...I'll bet that would be cool, though! I've heard some people say that the new version of the Hotcake (with presence knob as opposed to switch) sounds different than the original. But I only have the new one, so I'm not sure in what ways they vary tonally. Anyone?

i had the xtra Lf version. it was rather dark and muddy sounding for guitar. i havent tried it on bass. so, i sent it back to paul - he is going to change it back to the regular hotcake version for me!

Thank you Eric & Josh. I apologize for taking so long to reply, but I just noticed your replies today. That's good to know that I wasn't crazy for thinking that there was a lower frequency Hotcake. I have one of the older style regular ones, with the mid lift switch. I haven't heard the new style ones with the tone knob yet,but I'd like to. I'd also like to try that LF version of the Hotcake. My main guitar has only one pickup,in the bridge position. Perhaps a bassy pedal would provide a little variety. Once again, thank you & soory about the delay in responding...Dave

BTW,could you supply me with Paul Crowther's email address please. I ordered my pedal before I ever went online,so I've only communicated with him by "snail mail", a term I'd never heard before going on the internet.

Paul A, thank you for the addy for Paul Crowther. I probably will drop him a line within the next couple of days. For those unfamiliar with me or the Hotcake pedal,we're tight. Of the OD pedals I've tried so far,the Hotcake is my favorite.
