How's the Eq? How's the buffer? Need something to EQ my strat and bring the level of the strat up to the level of my Les Paul.

Thinking about the BJF Sea Blue EQ, too. My only concern about the Sea Blue is that it EQ's freqencies "in-between" typical amps' EQ. I'm looking for a more basic, general EQ, not something for more subtle tweaking. Does the Sea Blue work well as a primary, stand-alone EQ? Thanks!

Haven't used the Morning dew but if we are going Non Toyz stuff my Absolute favorite so far is the Hotwire audio FA-1 clone. Bass Treble volume and a bass cut switch.

Responds very well to Les Pauls or Single coils, is true bypass, and pretty much dead quiet. It adds more high fi (for lack of a better word thant a SHO or SD2in1)You could get some think sounds out of a Jazz master or some surf sounds out of a Les Paul, so it can be pretty drastic if needed.

I've heard many good things about the SBEQ and nearly got one but found out about the FA-1 first.

The SBEQ can definitely work as a stand alone EQ pedal. I'd suggest going over to thegearpage.net and doing a searc, you'll find lots of praise and info about them.

I have an MDEQ and really like it - but I'm not sure it'll do what you want though. The EQing isn't quite subtle, but it's less radical than say a GE-7. It also doesn't have a huge amount of boost (which is dependent on how high you set the EQ controls - there is no dedicated volume control). The buffer is high quality and sounds good IMO. I also have an Axess BS-2 and a LR Baggs Para DI, the MDEQ's buffer is on par with those other units IMO.

Thanks a lot, guys. I've found a temporary work-around for the Strat-Les Paul volume discrepancy, but am still looking for an ideal solution. Will definitely keep these ideas about EQ's and the Hotwire pedal in mind.
