Where is Goodrich's website? Which Goodrich is the best one? Anyone use a Hilton volume pedal?

i don't have experience with either. i am thinking about buying a goodrich just to try it out, but i've never even heard of hilton. this post is basically a bump because i'd like to hear a response to your query also. i've not been extremely happy with my ernie ball volume as of late.

I've gigged with my Goodrich volume pedal for about 4 years. It's great. I have no experience with the Hilton, though, so I can't give you a comparison. I picked up on the Goodrich pedals over at the Steel Guitar forum. It seems to be one of the standards with steelers. I've got the low profile model, by the way, which is cool since it's....well, lower. You can go over to the Steel Guitar forum and get a butt load of info about volume pedals.

yesterday i was reading somewhere about a 9v powered goodrich pedal that keeps your tone unaltered even at low volumes. i.e. it doesn't work like the volume pot on your guitar. it simply controls volume. that's exactly what i'm looking for, but don't know where to find it. i also heard somewhere that the goodrich pedals don't go from 0 to 10 (let's say 10 is full volume). they either go from 0 to 9, or 1 to 10. oh, and i heard that their pots wear out fast. is that true? how has yours held up afer 4 years? thanks!

hm. i think i found what i was talking about, but i'm not sure if i understood what it does. it's called the goodrich ldr. it's almost $400 canadian, and i can't find a price for it in the u.s. it says that the tone stays the same from full on to full off. i took that to mean that the gain of your guitar would stay the same and only the volume would change, but i think i was wrong. ah well. i guess the search will go on. oh, by the way, i think that product is similar to the hilton pedal. it sounds like the hilton might be cheaper though.

Skip them fancy-schmancy volume pedals and go for a DOD FX17! Heh. Seriously, I've used 'em for the past 15 yrs. and the only thing I've found that's quieter and as transparent is the Morley PW II. The Morley is a huge space hog and I could only hear the difference in noise floor through a sensitive DI system. So if you're just looking to go straight into your amp, get the DOD.

I have to agree. Get the DOD. For the $, you can't beat it. I've seen them as cheap as 25.00, although on the EvilBay, they're going up in price. After trying many other more expensive ones, I found the DOD works really well and is a good fit size-wise.

I also have the Goodrich with the added tone contour circuit (this was the model before the current 122) which is useful for adding back in the bit of high frequency you loose with most volume pedals, but I actually like the FX17 better.

I also looked at the high-end optical ones (Hilton, Goodrich LDR), but couldn't justify the cost. Another option is the Morley. Either the PW or the Lil' Alligator. I have a Lil Alligator and the minimum volume knob plus smooth pedal action is very nice.

Try looking in the Buy and Sell section of the Pedal Steel forum. It's a good place to find a used volume pedal. I can't remember the exact price, but my Goodrich wasn't expensive...it's the straight volume pedal, no optics or electronics.

I have the FX-17 because it was my Wah pedal back when I was a weeeee lad, but I'd say that the Goodrich I use now has a nicer feel and throw than the DOD and I think it sounds a wee bit better as well.. meaning a bit quieter. I also think the DOD has a slight volume loss, but maybe mine is out of calibration, it was in a bag o' pedz on tour back in the daze.

Which model of the Goodrich line is the one without a pot?

i dont know about the goodrich or the firestone volume pedal. but what i look for in a volume pedal is uncolored clear sound. smooth feel in the pedal. i got a morley little alligator.this thing works great! and the price is right.
