I was just thinking about the huge explosion in the number of boutique pedal manufacturers that have come out with really good product in the last year or two. So many choices and possibilities...good for us guitarists I guess. I read about so many great pedals....but then have to remind myself that I'm already very satisfied with my OD/Wah/whatever....I think the best part is that we can all chase our own sound....just a thought.

We're addicted to all the shiny colors, I tell ya! I could probably get on with my life if it weren't for this damn forum... I mean that in the sweetest possible way.

In an extremely limited way I'm part of that. I started by looking for pedals that I needed, & when I didn't find them I tried to learn how to build them for myself. At this point, I'm building boosters for myself & friends, mainly to improve my skills, & it is kind of fun. I really get a kick out of painting them. I have a lot of ideas in that respect but I'm still a rank beginner as far as designing anything truly original. It's a fun hobby basically.

Hey SPDave! How do your Orman boosters compare to the Zvez SHO? You didn't get back to me from that other topic.

126 shades of black-------- Youd also think it would drive prices down quite a bit as its mostly labor- the parts to build these things are not high dollar---usually............Kinda like CDs-noreason we should be paying $15.00 for a CD

Hi TYP. I responded in the SHO post that Troy posted. I'll try to do some serious side by side comparisons within the next couple of days. Also, I've read that the Mini boosters are very similar to the Fat Boost but I haven't actually tried a Fat Boost. I certainly don't want to slam or praise that pedal if I don't actually have one. Maybe if I built an exact clone of one, in all details then I could comment on that. I do like that SHO though!

Donner's right about the pricing. The parts alone for an average pedal would cost less than $50.00 in almost any case. Wiring things up, & figuring out what you did wrong, & sanding & painting the thing account for a lot of labor. I've found out why the "hammered" finish is used so much. It takes far less time to do a hammered finish than a nice smooth, single color enamel type of finish.
