The best direct box in my book is the JD-I known as the "Jedi" among studio and live engineers... it's by Cabletek a company in Canada(BC) thsi is a reputable direct box... one you can trust to be professional all teh way. http://www.cabletek.ca/

If you're only looking for an affordable solution to transform unbalanced signal levels into balanced signal levels, and a ground lift is something you'd like. Consider the DOD 265 I've used 2 of these in a situation like this without any problems(helped for long run between pedalboard and rack/amp)

Hope this helps Wink

Check out the Countryman type 85 DI box. It's sort of an industry standard. Or, if your looking to really shell out some $, have a look at the Aguilar DB900 tube direct box.

What do you need the DI for?

Jim S,
I was going to add it to my pedalboard so I could in addition to having the signal to my amp, have it sent to the mixing board instead/or in addition to miking the cab.

For ultraclean tone a conventional DI might be OK.

If you want even the slightest guitar intended distortion to sound good through the PA or other board, the routine hi-end DI will not emulate your mic'd cab. I think what you may want is a cab simulator. Arguably the best is Palmer but some have said good things about the H&K Red Box. I have the Palmer PGA-04 and it sounds so good I no long mic my guitar cabs.

I don't know who sells teh JD-1 in the USA(assuming you're located there)

I know that the local big store carries it... http://www.stevemusic.com they're just an email away.

I'm sure you can get them in the US as well, if not you'd want to contact cabletek directly, you should be able to buy from them or at least they'll be able to help you find a way for you to buy one.

Hope this helps
