Ok, Ok, I hate to admit it, but I've always thought the TS-808 was way overrated. I had a chance to play one at a gig a couple weeks ago, and I absolutely loved it. So being a pedal freak, I have to have one. But, I'm not going to drop $400 on one, when I can get something that sounds virtually the same and is built better. I've been looking at the Blue Devil, and have heard really good things about the Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde as well. I'd like to get some honest opinions, about which is the best for a true TS-808 sound. Thanks for the input guys.

Blues Devil hands down!!! Great tone and a little more available gain than a TS-808. If you liked the TS-808, you'll love the Blues Devil!! I was not impressed with the J & H. The Blues Devil was a wonderful upgrade for my bread & butter tone.

i second the blues devil. you'll nail SRV easily, but its more than that. you might wanna try out a barber tone pump II as well. its two channels of gain is nice a transparent for your amp and guitar to come thru the way it should. I have the Dual Unit which has a Burn unit which is alot like a Rat along with the tone pump II and love it. most veratile.

Blues Devil, no question. Only does the one thing IMO, but does it great. By comparison the J&H sounds thin/metallic/congested all at once. I sold my J&H pretty quick because I (at the time) wanted to get closer to the 808 sound; sold my BD recently only because I'm now trying to get AWAY from the 808 sound! -Guy
