My OCD is losing it hold on my board.

I'm starting to think about the Eternity.

Could the Eternity do the OCD's job, or similar?

Can anyone describe how they are similar or different?

The Eternity is much smoother & refined than the OCD - the OCD is gritty in comparison - it would be difficult for the Eternity to sound like an OCD.

The OCD has more gain available. Both are open sounding - the Eternity has more sustain.

Nice, Leo.

I don't mind smooth - I've got grit.
And sustain's good Smile

Thanks!

Go with the E! So versatile, you'll find a few killer tones in that little box.

Their are usually used ones quickly to be had.
Seriously, I have never pimped a pedal more than the E. They just rock, I keep saying...most pedals usually only have one killer sound and the rest are so-so, well the E, every dang way you turn the knobs makes magic. It is the one pedal I oculd live happily ever after with. I will try others, but it will remain, slayed others by the wayside.

The OCD has a more natural coloration, similar, I think, to the COT50, whereas the Eternity has a more pronounced coloration to it, more like a Fulldrive, except bumpier in the lower mids.

The Cot50 is starting to get my interest, too.

The OCD "played" oddly for me, the feel was off.
But I liked some things about the sound - the clearity. Didn't like the high end-even after the mod.

There not similar at all really. The Beano has a full germainium sound were the Eternity has it's on trademark. The Eternity can sound like alot of differant things depending how to tweak it.

The more I use my OCD (unmodded, original pot) the more I keep lowering the gain. That really helps open it up. Yes, it is capable of high gain, and that's how I set it right out of the box and used it for months. But it is SOOO much sweeter, less grainy and has tighter lows at low-gain settings. Kinda like Mike's clips on the Fulltone page.
I'm actually using my Eternity set for higher gain than the OCD. I just think of the E as more "classic rock" and the OCD as more "modern rock". That's the difference to me. The OCD's voicing wins when the two are stacked, so I just tend not to stack these two. An LTD after either of the retains basically all of either one of their voicings.

I liked the OCD tone, but it was hard to play for me.

I got the SmallFry, and that's got a nice grain-crunch to it.

The thing is, it doesn't take so Germanium boosts well, so I can't use that trick on it.

But the E sounds like a good bet.
