How come everytime I get a gander on this forum I hear about the same pedals ad nauseum. Seems like everyone goes over the same old thing about TS-9s, Klons, Fulldrives, etc. How come I never read anything about Blackbox or Frantone or any of those other smaller companies that make great effects? Does anyone have any of their stuff? Could you post your opinions about them? I'd sure like to find out more from the players. Thanks and godspeed!

Most people dont buy pedals that no one has recommended because no one bought it to recommended it to the people that are still looking for a pedal to buy to fill the void and the people that have thier voids filled and satisfied have no reason to hang around long enough to recommend the pedals that dont get noticed as much-------or not

I've mentioned some pedals on this board that are not in that group. The Hotcake has received a lot of replies whereas the Austone Fuzznutz has gotten basically no response. I checked the Blackbox website & saw the InFURno fuzz pedal, which looks like it's right up my alley.

I've always wondered about that too. I am very interested in smaller companies like Blackbox, Austone, Diaz, etc.-but because of the lack of reviews, I'm sort of hesitant to buy their stuff. It's a shame too-because I know their stuff is good-I actually took my chances and bought a Diaz Texas Ranger and wow, that pedal smokes-and those guys (Lorren at Blackbox, Jon at Austone, and Cesar himself at Diaz) have the best customer service around. They always e-mail you back pronto. To me, that shows how much they are willing to back up their product. In any case, I suppose the only solution is to continue to listen to any soundbytes out there and then take the plunge when you can't resist it anymore.

I once emailed Cesar Diaz & got much more than a standard "Thank you for expressing an interest in our product." type of reply. He told me about how fulfilling it was playing guitar with Bob Dylan, & all sorts of things. It was more like a letter from a friend than an email from a company president.

I'll have to second that about Cesar Diaz. He's been more like a friend in his replies to me over the past few years as well. He turned me on to the Klon and several other ideas, even when I was asking about his products. The result-- I bought the Klon (which I use more than anything else) and I have two of his pedals. I find them very useful and I consider him a knowledgable friend who tells it like it is. If you know much about what he's done in the music industry for tone(BIG NAMES GO HERE), then you gotta love the guy.
