Use DS-1 with highs rolled off and moderate level/gain settings (75-85% of gain), with BT serving as tube preamp w/eq. Kind of going for what the Fulltone unit is supposed to be; tube based dist. Anybody have success doing this? btw-I'm a single coil strat guy.. As long as the DS-1 isn't overloading the BlueTube, why not? Landau and Henderson runs TS-9's into a RM Voodoo-1 for the same type thing . The Voodoo-1 set for a clean boosted drive without much gain....and running a TS-9 into that. |

I've done something similar to that with a Blue Tube, a Mesa V-Twin & a master volume Marshall. The V-Twin has quite a bit of a volume difference between the Blues & Solo modes. I used the Blue tube to boost the Blues mode up to the volume level of the Solo mode & the bypass volume, which I has set to match each other. I noticed that the combination of the Blue Tube set for a bit of a boost, into the straight amp sounded very cool. It wasn't the heaviest tone I've ever heard, but it was a cool usable tone that I might not have been able to achieve using just the amp alone.
I've also tried the TS type overdrive into a Voodoo 1 pedal, like Carl suggested. That sounds pretty darn good as well. |
