Hey anyone notice this one? I have no experience with the RI Fenders but this falls just below the Deluxe Reverb in power, so it might be cool with upgrades? Will it be worth it? (Course I could probably build my own for less $$)

Fender is trying to cash in. Prices on Princetons (both black and silver faces) are way out of hand. They see the demand, and want to get on board.

If this is a handwired amp, I'm kinda interested. If it's a PCB amp like the Deluxe and Twin re-issues, then no thanks.

If you're going to pick up a Fender RI, be prepared to swap out components to get it into the sweet spot. My '65 Twin RI sounded just OK out of the box, but I upgraded resistors and speakers and now it screams. Add a couple hundred dollars on top of the retail price for mods and then you're talking.

The reissue PR is a PCB-board amp. List is $999, which is ridiculous for a 12-watt amp. It's about what you could get a vintage version for (in itself ridiculously inflated).

I got a chance to play one of the new Princeton Reverbs over the weekend. Meh. Sounded pretty nice, but not $1K nice.

I haven't heard the new reissue, but it is priced kinda high. I mean for a hundred dollars more, or less than that in some places, you can get a Deluxe. I would look for a used one, or maybe even a clone. I have a clone of this amp, and it sounds fantastic. I A/B it with a '68 over the weekend, and it was pretty much the same. They are great freaking amps.

I see them on ebay for $899 OBO. I'll build my own clone one day when I complete some of the other projects I can't find the time to finish! I just need a smaller amp.

The Princeton is a great amp for the house/apartment. Most will break up around 4. They are just great amps...

There are many amps in the same price range that are much better. Old blackface Princetons sound killer. A friend of mine that plays Bill Frisell type jazz uses a silverface converted to blackface specs. He plays a G&L ASAT through it and it sounds fantastic. I don't think he paid more than about $450 for it. That was a few years back though.
