I need a good stage tuner. What would everyone recommend? I am using a Matrix tuner, in pedal form..but it is totally crapping out on me! A Boss TU-2 stage tuner maybe? I need advice.

the tu-2 is by far the best pedal tuner i've ever tried.....unless you're gonna move into a strobe or rack mounted tuner i ddon't think you can go wrong with the tu-2....

I've used one of those cheap-O Arion stage tuners for years and years and years and it's always worked. The Boss is cool but I haven't felt the need to replace my cheap-o plastic Arion.

I absolutely love the Boss TU-2 - Couple of cool features - you can use it to daisy chain other pedals and power them via the DC out - You can even use it as a Line selector (check Harmony Central review - someone went into detail how - and Last what I use it for alot, a Mute/Noise gate - if there is a section of song where it needs to be dead silent - i.e. 8th Note pause etc, This is very handy , PLUS a Tuner? For $60 or so..you bet this is a good deal. Just my opinion...

I actually bought a TU-2 for a big gig I had, playing in front of about 1500 people at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. As I was tuning up between sets, a DJ was playing stuff with these ENORMOUS bass notes that made the whole stage vibrate. My TU-2 locked dead on my signal and I tuned perfectly - Priceless!!! Highly recommend it, plus you have the power source feature AND a choice of several tuning modes, including strobe. Very cool pedal

I also use the TU-2, and as mentioned earlier, the different tuning modes is a big plus.

Sorry guys I have another question:

Where in the chain do you guys put your tuner? My amp doesn't have a line out (VOXAC30TB) I normally use an overdrive, fuzz, and a wha, sometimes a phaser or delay.

The other guitarist in my band puts it wherever in his chain - to him he says it doesn't make a difference - me personally I put it closest to my amp in the chain - this way when I use it as a mute - it mutes everything - no swirly noises nothing..my $.02.

Here is another vote for the Boss stompbox tuner. Most helpful thing I have ever bought for my guitar.

...another vote for the TU-2. The strobe mode is very visible but I find it can be a bit distracting if you're trying to tune quickly. The LEDs are very bright so the process of locking in tune is easier. I put my tuner by itself on one channel of an A/B box. This keeps it out of the main signal path from guitar through efx to amp.

Some people seem to experience problems when using the tuner in the chain with a fuzz.

Most people I have spoken with suggest placing the tuner right after the guitar..if you use a wireless, place it right after the receiver, before the compressor. The reason is that you get only the guitar signal to tune from, not extra sounds generated by effects.
