I have just been listening to The Wall, and was wondering how David Gilmour gets his tone. He has a killer sound specially in songs such as "Run like hell", "Another brick in the wall" Pt 1 and 2, and also "Happiest days of our lives"! What delay does he use?? Can Anyone help?
The way to get the "ABITW" delay sounds is to run two delays in series. Set the first unit to one repeat only and set the second to do the rest. Set the speed of the two get the rhythm thing going. Give it a try, it will freak you out.
I read an interview in some old guitar mag where Gilmour explained this. He also said what units he used, but I cannot for the life of me remember. I thought is was boss DD pedals but they wern't released until later, so it must have been something else.
Maaan, are all my DG facts gone wacko. Must have been drinking way to much beer these last 10 years. Was really into PF in the late 80s, but my memory is clearly going straight down hill.
But try the serial delay thing it. I have heard sooo many faild attempts at the ABITW delays with a single rack unit or whatever and nobody seems to get it right, but running two delays like this just nails it. I used to have 2 boss DD-3s in my rack just to do this.
