can anyone tell me what quality the effects part of this unit are?how about the amp modeler and the pickup modeler?am i using the right terms? is it called modeling or simulating? i'm going to be playing a strat copy thru a VOX pathfinder.what kind of performance should i expect to achieve with this equipment and the RP200???will i be able to get the ACDC,heavy crunch, and eddie van halen sound with my equipment?it doesn't have to be perfect but pretty close would be nice.i'll just be playing recreationaly so it doesn't have to be perfect.i'm thinking of going this route (RP200)instead of buying the guitar and amp to get a couple of sounds.if this unit can give me good simulations (amp pu)and good effects i will be extremely pleased.

any other input or suggestion are welcome

If you're only looking for ACDC and Van Halen "close enough" sound...

First I hope your strat copy has an humbucker pickup at the bridge! If not that's not essential but a good start to get closer to the soudn you're after.

ACDC uses no guitar effects... humbucker guitar in marshall amps... for distortion.
Van Halen well that depends on what era's sound you're after....

That being said, here are 2 way I'd recommend.

1-You could probably get close enough sound with a Flanger and a Phaser for most of the old era Van Halen sound... you might also consider an overdrive if you plan on using this with a Vox pathfinder.Depending on teh pedal you choose this could be a long time purchase.

2-Using the Rp-200 in front of the vox pathfinder would get you close enough sound for lots of other artists, but don't plan on using this as a live setup, since I assume yu're gonna use this for bedroom playing and for fun I'd highly recommend the RP-200 (or the likes) for the knowledge you'll gain from using it compared to using a the 2above mentioned pedals. I owned a digitech RP-1 when they first came out... it's not the best sounding thing in the word BUT I learned a lot about effects terminology from using it and moved on to other equipment with time.

Consider both options, but as a starter and learning tool those "on the floor multi effects" unit aren't bad at all.
