GEAR alert.
A new pre amp/effects piece of gear seems to be conquering Guitar players. Line 6 better watch out now! Saw an ad in Guitar World mag Nov. issue. Do you remember the 90'S DIGITAL FRENZY? Are Digital FXs making a strong more analog feel comeback ?????(Pardon the oxymoron statement) I am ranting about a FRACTAL AXE-FX Digital Processor that Features: 49 amps (right now my left eye is twichting from the stupid possibilities and I am drooling like a pervert) I wish I could have Fifteen Hundred Benjamin Franklins growing daily on my backyard just to buy it and finally live the "JACK Butler Lifestyle deal". Other Features: 22 Cabinets 10 Microphones(yeah I can't even sing, just give me a Shure 57 to amplify my axe signal and move on) 17 Drive pedals (just give me all the Pedal advertised on Musictoyz Forums instead) Many more like Pitch Intelligent Harmony, Modulation,Gate, Two Rigs At once, Etc.... The company has a good Forum that lets you listen to many many clips produced by the common John Doe. The site is: www.fractalaudio.com I liked a MP3 clip of JTM45 AMP man that sounds raunchy, rocking in your face amp.. I never knew..... ANYONE CARE TO COMMENT ON THE REAL MARSHALL JTM45 AMPlifier and how it sound s and differs from say a JMC800??Pleazze... ________________________________________________ NOW MY OWN GAS REGULATOR-RANT. My train of thoughts: 1)I SHOULD just Slap myself several times on my face and pinch out many NOSE hairs to feel the pain of even CONSIDERING THIS GEAR(1,500 WHAT THE F$%^#@ AM I THINKING!!!) 2) It will take a lifetime to decide which of the 49 AMPS AND COMBINATION OF AMPS AND DRIVE PEDALS TO USE AND PITCH SHIFTING MODES TO USE!!! 3)SCREW DIGITAL RACKS... TOO MANY KNOBS!! 4) I AM OK.. ,MY PEDALS ARE ROCKING... I SHOULD BETTER GO AND BUY ANOTHER GUITAR OR CABLES...yeah even trade some pedals ala Butler.. GUYS... DO NOT BUY THAT THING... IF YOU DO I MIGHT FOLLOW YOU TO THAT ABYSS... Murphy help!! I am thinking instead of a nice ES335, an ALvarez Yairi Acoustic Guitar, a Rivera amp... another THREESOME.with a Black Beauty, a Blond Maple Fender...(2 Guitars and me.. "if it looks nice must feel nice" ) Ok chip in. After you listen about this Armagedon Piece of Gear, will you? FOR THOSE DIE HARD "FANS" OF B-PICTURES HERE IS YOUR SMALL MONTHLY DOSE: No more, I might sleep on the couch tonight for indulging YOUR MORBID LIFESTYLES.. Oh I DO NOT WANT CORLEONE TO GO BLIND.. so here is the FISRT PIC PROPERLY POSTED.. CHEERS! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Sun Tzu gibson, |

Digital has taken over the world of lower-end gear, but a high end amp will NEVER be digital. Nevertheless, smaller digital thingies to augment your rig with the least real estate taken up possible will probably come more and more.

I didn't want to tell you guys this but.....
I BOUGHT ONE!!!! It's by far the coolest piece of gear that I've ever had! I've been gigging it now for about four months, and I can't imagine life without it. I've hardly scratched the surface of what it can do, but I'm constantly blown away by the quality of tones I'm getting with it. The amp modeling is absolutely mind blowing. I can't even tell you how good it is. It was pretty good when I got it, but a firmware update shortly after I started using it took it to a whole new level. There is only one thing about it that I didn't think was 100% of the real deal for live playing. Something about the thump/punch of a tube amp on stage. I'm not referring to the air moving of the speaker. It's more something that the amp's transformer does (but that stuff is way over my head). I've been able to make up for that with a little bit of EQ work, but I won't need to for much longer because the designer (Cliff Chase) just found a way to make his algorithm do that too. He revealed it a few days ago, and I can't wait to get it going. If that feature works the way I think it will, I will probably never buy another amp. I bought the thing out of curiosity. I never really thought I would keep it (there is a 15 day trial period). I kept all of my other gear, but I've since started to sell it off because I really don't need it any more. I had read up on how to use it quite a bit before I got it, so I was able to dive right in. I was able to clone the sound and feel of my AC15 within about an hour. After I played with that for a while, I got the idea to mess with it a little bit. Although I loved my AC15, there were a few things about it that didn't just thrill me. Fifteen minutes later, I was able to dial out the things I didn't like about the real amp. I started cloning my pedal sounds after that. The effects are absolutely topshelf. The delays and reverbs are the best I've ever heard or used without a doubt. I gigged it the next week, and the band even fell in love with it. My amp and pedal rig could cover a lot of sonic territory, but nowhere near what I was able to do with the Axe-FX in just a week. The band had some constructive criticsm on things that they thought would be better. I worked on it at home, and used it again the next week. They told me that it wasn't going anywhere! For those that think it won't replace a high end tube amp, you're wrong. I've used Vox, Fender, Marshall, Mesa, Tophat, Orange, etc, etc.... and I can say without a doubt that this thing will hang with any gear I've ever used or been around for that matter. I don't expect you to believe that, I didn't, but you'll just have to mess with one and see for yourself. Many people use it as a high end effects unit and still use their amps live as well. The only limit to how you can use this thing is your imagination. D |

I knew that was going to happen LOL! If it's any consolation and will keep me in the Toyz community, I do still have my amp and pedal rig! Although, it has been collecting dust in the corner for the last few months. The Axe-FX isn't for everyone, but if you need to cover a lot of territory, which I do, then I can't imagine a better solution. If I just needed one amp sound, a couple dirt sounds, and a few time-based effects, I'd just stick with the amp and pedal rig. But if you need to nail (not just cover) a lot of different styles, then this thing is a lifesaver. D |
