Howdy!
So I want to update my 90's MIJ Jaguar reissue. I LOVE the neck. It's probably my favorite neck ever. But I want to match it with a proper alder body... Which service is better when it comes to body-making? It seems like USA Custom Guitar's stuff is pretty pricey... Is it worth the price? I'd also like to get the body finished, as well. I know USA Custom Guitars outsources all their finishing to Roxy Guitar Finish currently... Is Warmoth's in-house guitar finishing reliable? Basically, I want to get something that's very nice. I'm willing to pony up some cash... But I don't want to overpay TOO much. If anybody who had delt with either company could offer any advice, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks! -Dave Nailling |

Care to elaborate, LeoFenderBender? Have you been very pleased? How's the price/workmanship ratio? -Dave Nailling |

My USACG arrives some weeks ago, now is in the luthier for finish the job, all can I say is that is an amazing guitar man, also Tommy is "THE MAN" in the customer support thing they have good wood there and can make anything you want...

Ken Warmoth doesn't even play guitar.
But does that really matter? I think he knows wood. USACG and Warmoth are on the same par. It's coke or pepsi at that point. Tommy has raised his prices a bit from a few years ago so he's not hands down fave anymore. Buying from Warmoth "stock" seems to be more economical than buying from USACG then having Roxy paint it. That combo gets expensive. "Poor soul, he was just too high strung... I'm afraid the strain was more than he could bear." |

quote: Dave: You can't go wrong with Warmoth - the quality is superb, the routing is perfect, the neck pockets are always tight. An advantage over USACG is the in-house finishing which is top flight quality too. Don't get me wrong, I had a USACG tele body that was excellent - 2piece swamp ash (perfectly book matched) - if you go with either company, you'll be pleased with the product. I like the convenience and the quality of Warmoth finishing, I've bought half a dozen bodies from them over the years and have always been pleased. I haven't looked lately, but what I recall is that they offered more options in woods, weight, routing, customization, and finish than USACG. That may not be true anymore, I can't say for sure... Good luck! LFB ............................................................................................................................. Hey, I sound like me! |

Man. This forum never fails me. Thanks guys! As Warmoth looks to be much much cheaper, I think I'll end up going with them. I just wish they had more of a selection of finishes. Oh well... Thanks again, everybody! -Dave Nailling |

Yeah, I think that Warmoth is cheaper just because they're bigger than USACG. I can't talk about Warmoth because I never deal with them. I really like USACG just for the options they offer in the necks, you can choose all the features at no extra charge. But if you only want a body is a different history, anyways I must said that I'm very pleased with me USACG deal. You can make a search in the forum to look at my thread about my USACG.

I built a Warmoth parts Tele about 7-8 years ago. Flamed maple neck, lightweight swampash body, translucent amber nitro finish. The parts were great and I had no issue with any of the work. I also bought a replacement neck for my Strat from USACG last year. I had some custom specs that required hand finishing and they also did a great job. I really think the final price and timing will drive your decision because both company's seem to have about the same relative quality from what I've seen myself and read from others.
