Also, that Supro is really an eye-catcher. I was wondering just how crunchy the overdrive gets, since you mentioned it.

Aaron, thanks for the board compliment!

The Supro gets very crunchy. It has just enough headroom to play clean above a drummer with the volume at 9 o'clock. At just above noon, it's about as crunchy as a blackface Princeton on 10. from 3 o'clock to max it produces gobs of drive, and it's more responsive to picking dynamics and a guitar's volume knob than any pedal or amp I've heard.

I did have and enjoy a Box of Rock last year! Ultimately I couldn't get it as tight as I wanted without it becoming to treble-y. So I picked up a 6-knob Menatone Workingman's Blue which I liked a lot more... same vibe, but clearer sounding and very big sounding. La-de-da long story short, I found that the Fetto Deluxe covers all my Marshally needs so the WMB and BoR are both sold and enjoying new households!

I went out to my garage today and saw an old board that was sitting around and a chunk of 1 X 2. I had wanted to build a board to mount my pedals so I went and bought some black fabric and after about 45 minutes of work I ended up with a pedal board.

I wanted to keep this board pretty basic so I went after a 'Hendrix' style board.

The pedals are Roctron Hex Volume Pedal>RMC Wizard Wah>Sweet Sound Fillmore Fuzz>Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Octovio Fuzz>Sweet Sount Mojo Vibe (using another Rocktron Hex as an expression pedal - well, it will be using the Hex when I can figure out how to get it to stop smoking - but that is the Smoking Hex thread!)

I decided not to mount the Octovio onto the board since it doesn't have a power supply jack on the outside of the pedal.

Updates are afoot for my Marshall style board:

- Fender PT100 off -> Turbo Tuner on.
- Xotic AC off -> Timmy w/ LM1458 on.
- MI Blues Pro off -> Jetter Gain Stage Green on.

Magnifique!

Yep, you have great taste in patch cable and tuners yourself. Big Grin

By the way, how is that Digitech Hardwire delay? I've been thinking about replacing my Echohead with either that one, or the new Boss delay, which both have a built-in looper.

Speaking of the Boss - I replaced my DD-7 with the Hardwire DL-8. One thing to be concerned about - don't get it if you want to mess around with self oscillation noises: it's a bit 'glitchy' because of the detented pots, and you can't get it to osc infinitely even with the Level and Repeats all the way up. It sounds GOOD, but if that's a signature thing in your music, then you won't want the DL-8.

That bit aside, I think the DL-8 sounds better than the DD-7 in the stock digital mode and all of the 'modeled' modes. The modeled modes aren't as over the top as the DD-7's.... just sounds more natural and beautiful, and this is especially apparent when A/B-ing the Modulate modes. Also, the true bypass of the DL-8 made me hear how much the DD-7 (and DD-6 before it) was taking away from my clarity in the signal chain, even when they were off!

You have to think about the looping though - the DL-8 "only" has 20 seconds of looping, whereas the DD-7 has 40 seconds.

I'm not big on delay, and when I do use it I tend to dial in a nice short/mild delay; and I frequently soften even that with my X-Blender. So, ya, whacky self oscillation is a total non-factor for me.

That's really the deciding factor - which sounds better. Because they'll both loop, and 20 seconds ought to be sufficient. Hmm, they're the same price too.

Done. DL-8 it is. Thanks for the info, Ben.

Well, I use the DL-4 mainly as a looper and DE-7 mainly for oscillation, so 3 delays still to choose from, all with different characteristics and sounds. Gets almost any sound I want...but I'd still like a memory lane 2 Wink

Oh my god - I just realized that I haven't changed my board one bit since I posted a pic of it on July 30th. What's happening to me!? I think I'm actually... content?

Thanks! I'm staving off the urge to refinish it in Olympic White... My gut says that's a very bad idea, but I still think it'd be cool.

As for neck radius, I'm told it's based on a 70's strat neck, so what would that be, C-shaped? It's definitely chunky (which I like), not as quick as my Hagstrom neck which is basically a pencil.
