Hello,
I just wanted some suggestions. I like jazz alot and how some sounds have the sound of a little overdrive or such right to the edge, just so its a little dirty. I know that most achieved the sound simply by their amp and such but is there a pedal out there that can do it reasonable well for me? Don't care about cost or anything like that. Anything is good here. Thanks

Check out the new Cobalt. It was designed with exactly this use in mind (it does a lot more to boot). You can pretty easily dial in just a tiny bit of break up without totally altering the tone or responsiveness of your guitar and amp.

Yeah the Cobalt looks interesting- I like the knob layout, being a foot knob twidler........also might try the Voodoo labs Sparkledrive- its good for those touches as you can dial in just a taste of drive...oddly enough awhile back I suggested to them the same layout as on the Cobalt and paint it in a big V for 'Voodoo', the sparkledrive is hard to tweek with your shoe while your playing,if thats important to anyone other than me

If you really want that sound you're gonna have to push your TUBE amp with a Hollow body HUMBUCKER equipped guitar ... at least semi - hollow ala a 335 . Heavy guage flat wound strings and a heavy pick are also part of the equation . NOW , if you don't want to do those things you can get close with an OD and a Les Paul ( or a Tele ) . BLack Box , Klon , Fat Boost , Sparkle Drive , etc ... any OD that has a tone knob that can be turned down . The Menatone " Howie " is one of my favorites . I use low powered Fender amps mostly ( 15 - 40 watters ) with a Ibanez 335 rip - off and usually one of the boxes above , Flat's and a really heavy pick . I've gotten pretty close with a Tele on the neck PU and the tone control down a bit .
